More than a month after the four lead actors of the much-awaited ABS-CBN drama The Broken Marriage Vowwere unveiled, Dreamscape Entertainment finally introduced on Monday, June 14, the rest of its powerhouse cast.
It can be recalled that last May 7, the four lead stars of the Philippine adaptation of the British series Doctor Foster were unraveled – Jodi Sta. Maria as Dra. Jill Ilustre, Zanjoe Marudo as her husband David Ilustre, Sue Ramirez as David’s mistress Lexy Lucero, and Zaijian Jaranilla as Jill and David’s only son Gio.
Through a video posted on their Facebook and Instagram pages, Dreamscape Entertainment announced the other artists that will comprise the stellar ensemble. Several seasoned thespians will take part on it, namely, Jane Oineza as Diane Riagon (PreMed student and spy of Dr. Jill), Joem Bascon as Enzo Tierra (Diane’s abusive boyfriend), Ketchup Eusebio as Charlie Manansala (Carol’s husband, David’s best friend, and the accountant of Ilustre family), Bianca Manalo as Carol Manansala (Charlie’s wife, neighbor and family friend of the Ilustre’s), Empress Schuck as Grace Jimenez (David’s secretary), Sandino Martin as Dr. Barry (Dr. Jill’s colleague), and Kate Alejandrino as Bani (Dr. Jill’s assistant).
The Broken Marriage Vow will also astound us with the exceptional acting prowess of veteran character actors, explicitly, Art Acuña as Fred Lucero (Lexy’s father), Rachel Alejandro as Nathalia Lucero (Lexy’s mother), Angeli Abayani as Dr. Sandy Alipio (OB-GYN, Dr. Jill’s frenemy and David’s childhood friend), , Ronnie Lazaro as Dr. Jose Tan (Dr. Jill’s mentor and colleague), Malou Crisologo as Yaya Maggie (Ilustre family’s househelper), Franco Laurel as Atty. Dante Pugong (annulment lawyer and Dr. Jill’s patient), and Jojit Lorenzo as Ben (the hypochondriac patient of Dr. Jill).
At the same time, it’s going to introduce new breeds of talents as well, namely, Pinoy Big Brother Connect’s Ji Anne Armero as Janice (David’s cousin), Brent Manalo as Migs Ilustre (David’s brother), Migs Almendras as Justin (Lexy’s gay friend), Avery Clyde as Mikah Jimenez (Grace’s daughter and Gio’s friend and classmate), and Goin’ Bulilit alumnus JB Agustin as Max (Gio’s bestfriend).
It was last April 13 when the project was first announced after ABS-CBN signed an agreement with BBC Studios to adapt the British hit series Doctor Foster, making Philippines the sixth country to recreate it next to France, Russia, Turkey, India, and South Korea.
As avid K-drama fans know, the Korean remake entitled The World of the Married Couple became the highest rated cable TV drama in the country, and had also amassed a huge following from Pinoy viewers. ABS-CBN was also able to acquire it in 2020 and broadcast it on its television and online platforms.
