UE-Caloocan students bag top plum on Biogesic’s short film contest

MANILA, Philippines - The short film entry of University of the East-Caloocan students Roxanne Robes, Leizl Senarita, and Hershelyn Dimapilis won the first prize in the recently-concluded Biogesic Ingat na Damang-Dama Sineserye.

Their film titled Magic Touch bested the four other student teams from Miriam College, Far Eastern University, Lyceum of the Philippines, and Philippine Women's University.

Under the guidance of acclaimed Kapamilya director Ruel Bayani, the film Magic Touch showed the story of a father who revisited his old home with his son and recalled his childhood memories with his grandmother who took care of him during his younger years. The film was based on the chosen true-to-life story of Biogesic loyal consumer, Mr. Dindo Moreno.

Taking the idea of “caring” for their customers to a whole new level, Biogesic, the leading paracetamol brand in the country, partnered with Cinema One and ABS-CBN for the Ingat na Damang-Dama Sineserye.

In this campaign, Biogesic gathered over 600 true-to-life stories from their loyal customers, then selected the five most heartwarming anecdotes that best represented what their brand is all about which is to give the most genuine “pag-iingat” or care in all aspects possible.

The students’ masterpieces was a collaboration between their team and the award-winning directors that guided them in the process of breathing life to the stories. The UE-Caloocan team had director Ruel Bayani, the Far Eastern University team had Lorenzo’s Time director Jerome Pobocan, the Lyceum of the Philippines team was guided by box office rom-com director Cathy Garcia-Molina, the Philippine Women’s University students was guided by Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala director Jerry Sineneng while the Miriam College team was guided by Princess And I director Rory Quintos.

Other than winning the grand prize, Magic Touch also won the People’s Choice award while Miriam College’s short film Seva – Selfless Service won the second prize.

The winner was announced by no less than Biogesic’s longtime endorser and Kapamilya actor John Lloyd Cruz.
