On “The Voice of the Philippines” first Battles, Team Apl pitted the Lorenzana Duo against Tristhan Perfecto. They sang Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” Coach Apl D Ap was helped by the Journey vocalist Arnel Pineda in coaching and judging the contestant. In the end though, Coach Apl chose Tristhan as the winner of this battle.
On Team Bamboo, Lee Grane was placed against Dan Billano and both sang “One” by U2. Coach Bamboo was helped by Joey Ayala, ethnic pop icon of the Philippines, in coaching the two. For Joey it was Dan who won the competition. “Mas nag-enjoy ako sa boses ni Dan.” However, he also praised Lee Grane. “Karamihan ng babae na singer na nakikita ko nagpapa-cute, bihira ako makadinig ng tunay na boses na galing sa bituka at yun ang narinig ko sa’yo.” A tough decision, Bamboo still picked Lee Grane, who he says sings a line or phrase with emotion.
For Team Sarah, beautiful singers Morissete Amon and Lecelle Trinidad gave their all and sang “No More Tears.” Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano was Sarah Geronimo’s guest adviser. Although it was a hard choice, both Sarah and Gary agreed that Moriissette was the one who “shined” more in this performance.
Mitoy Yonting and Chien Berbana, two “powerhouse voices” battled for their spot in the
Team Lea by singing Heart’s “Alone.” Coach Lea Salonga was assisted by her brother, multi-awarded conductor/ arranger Gerard Salonga in coaching the two. Gerard praised Chien for rising above his expectations and giving Mitoy a good fight. However, Lea chose Mitoy to stay in her team.
