PAANDAR 2019: Nail-biting “buwis-buhay” stunts in Kapamilya teleseryes that made our hearts race

The year 2019 had been an action-packed one for ABS-CBN as a slew of action-drama series ruled our binge-watching sessions.

Arguably, we found ourselves pushed on the edge of our seats and our eyes glued onto our screens as we witnessed the nerve-wracking skirmishes among the characters, as well as the death-defying stunts amazingly executed by the actors that truly made our hearts pound.

As we look forward on seeing more action and the upcoming teleserye offerings of the Kapamilya channel this 2020, let’s recall some of the most mind-blowing “buwis-buhay” stunts we’ve seen last year through this Paandar 2019 feature.

FPJ'S Ang Probinsyano

In pursuit of saving Lily (Lorna Tolentino) from the hands of Lazaro (Gardo Versoza) and his henchmen, our mighty cop Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay (Coco Martin), along with Task Force Agila, courageously attacked their hideout and gunned down every enemy they would spot in the area.

Cardo totally blew our minds with his dexterity in gun-handling and heart-pounding stunts as he almost singlehandedly bumped off most of the goons that attempted to impair their mission. But among everything that he did in this explosive scene, it was arguably that exhilarating moment when he jumped off and flipped from the mansion’s balcony as he chased Lazaro and his henchmen who were about to take Lily to their another hideout and evaded the explosion as well. Then an intense exchange of gunshots ensued between the valiant police officers and the hoodlums.

Just when he thought that he’s going to lose two of the most important people in his life on that very moment – Baby CJ and former flame Jacky (Yen Santos) – after Helen (Almira Muhlach) attempted to kill them by pushing Jacky to the river and went on to escape from Lino (Jericho Rosales) and the authorities. Jacky was able to successfully persuade her to give the baby to her, but wasn’t expecting for Helen to push her off the water while CJ was nestled in her arms.

Upon confronting Helen and hearing his son’s cry, Lino didn’t waste any second and quickly ran and dived in to the river to rescue him and Jacky.

Kadenang Ginto

We were all surely shocked upon seeing the chopper Robert (Albert Martinez) was riding in explode, which made us all assume that he’s already dead. However, after a few months, it was revealed that he’s able to survive and was actually alive.

Through the personal investigation Leon (Richard Yap) did, we found out through a survivor’s account that Robert was rescued by the crewmen of the Chinese vessel who spotted him adrift the sea. Unfortunately, instead of taking him back to the Philippines, the captain forced him to work with them. He really had a harrowing plight there for he had to work despite being sick and was also being assaulted by the captain and his right hands whenever he would try to disobey.

And one day, as they were loading their supplies from a boat, they used it as an opportunity for them to escape, but failed after Robert had to exchange blows with the crewmen who were trying to hinder them and he was fatally shot by the captain that made him fall to the water.

Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos

Wearing nothing but his black plants, slippers, and backpack, we’re all arguably thrilled to see Connor (Joshua Colet) riding on a jet ski as he figured in an exciting chase with three other men who were also on their jet skis. As swift as he was, they weren’t able to catch him in the even though he was just lurking around the resort.

The General's Daughter

The year 2019 had been more action-packed, thanks to femme fatale Rhian (Angel Locsin) who amazed us with her extinguishable courage and the mind-blowing skills and stunts she displayed as she fought for what she knew was right and just.

Just like in this nail-biting episode wherein she singlehandedly dismantled the henchmen of her foster dad-turned-enemy Heneral Tiago (Tirso Cruz III) during her mission to capture him at their hideout. She then proceeded on coming after him by riding on a speedboat while engaging in an intense gunfight with him and his remaining goons.

Hiwaga ng Kambat

Despite his frail physique and not having a strong sense of sight, Iking (Edward Barber) still attempted to help palitaw vendor Aling Kikay from the riding-in-tandem who attacked her. With his strong sense of hearing and agility, he was able to quickly respond and topple down one of the assailants by lashing him out, yet failed to recover the money they got from her as the other thief run him over with the motorcycle they’re using.

The Killer Bride

The fiercer and bolder Camila (Maja Salvador) traded the white horse she used in the early portion of the series to a speedy motorcycle as she relentlessly chased her Uncle Luciano (Cris Villanueva). She was not only able to keep up with his pace after astonishingly able to tail him, but she also got us on the edge of our seats with how she amazingly dodged the bullets he fired at him while they were on their vehicles.

The very first clash of Leo (Aljur Abrenica) and JC (Ejay Falcon) was truly nail-biting since the viewers already knew that they’re not simply brothers, but twins. Separated in their boyhood, JC grew up with their parents and is currently a member of the police force, while Leo was adopted by a couple who’s engaged in illegal activities and ended up managing their operations.

Since they didn’t have any idea yet regarding their consanguinity, it wasn’t surprising anymore if they were willing to kill one another in pursuit of hindering each other in accomplishing their respective missions.

Are you excited as us to see more action this year on our well-loved Kapamilya teleseryes?
