She had her first mother role in the 2002 flick “Magkapatid.” But it was apparently in the 2006 primetime drama Sa Piling Mo, wherein she initially became a teleserye mom by playing the selfless and courageous Jennifer Limbaga, who’s willing to protect her son at all costs and fight for the man she loves. The same with her character Anessa Panaligan-Diomedes in Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala (2013), whose life became a nightmare when she married her abusive husband Eros (Sam Milby).

Her character Belen in the “Ilog” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya in 2015 also suffered from that similar plight after her husband molested and sold their kids after she entrusted them to him to work.

Angelica Panganiban

Just like Juday, Angelica also began her career as a child star and went on to become a teen sensation as she got cast in the youth-oriented programs G-Mik and Berks. She finally broke free from teeny-bopper roles in her succeeding projects as she played more mature roles that displayed her versatility as an actress.

But her first take on becoming a teleserye mom was in the 2015 remake of the classic soap opera Pangako Sa ‘Yo, as she took on the notorious kontrabida Claudia Buenavista, the domineering mom of Angelo, portrayed by Daniel Padilla.

She then went on to become the loving godmother and foster mom Patty to her godson Robin (JJ Quilantang), who got orphaned after his parents did in an accident, in the daytime series Playhouse. And as her teleserye retirement project, the 34-year-old actress astounded us with her portrayal of Celine Delgado, a struggling mom who was determined to find her lost child, in the recently-concluded primetime action drama Walang Hanggang Paalam.

And from being the rebellious daughter in the original version of Pangako Sa ‘Yo, she went on to portray the iconic character Amor Powers, a mother looking for her lost child, in its remake in 2015.

Jodi’s maternal role streak continued as she played Fina Baniaga, a mom desperate to take her long-lost child back from its adoptive parents, in Sino Ang Maysala? Mea Culpa. Next was in the iWant Originals series “My Single Lady,” wherein she was admired as the hardworking single mom Chona San Diego. The same with her character Marissa Pineda in the primetime series Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, who despite the death of her biological child was still able to find the drive to live and be happy again through her adoptive son Jake (Grae Fernandez).

Her streak as an on-screen mom continued as she was tapped to take on the role of Stella, the abusive stepmom of Andrea Brillantes in the 2013 incarnation of the ‘80s drama Annaliza. Her character Yvonne Aguiluz in the Filipino adaptation of the Korean drama Two Wives probably gained our sympathies after her husband got involved in an extramarital affair.

Years after giving birth to her and husband Paul Jake Castillo’s firstborn, she had a showbiz comeback by appearing in the daytime series Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit, wherein she played the sickly yet caring Ella, the mother of the lead child protagonist Mikmik (Sophia Reola).

Desiree del Valle

Bea Alonzo

First stepped into the limelight as a teen actress who first appeared in the 2002 teen draman K2BU, Bea has indeed come a long way as she catapulted into becoming one of the most sought-after drama actresses of her generation.

As years went by, she’s able to further exhibit her flexibility as an actress as she didn’t only amaze us with her dramatic performances, but also impressed us with her portrayal of mother roles. Her first was in the 2008 incarnation of the Colombian series I Love Betty La Fea, wherein her character Betty and John Lloyd Cruz’s Armando gave birth to a bouncing baby girl named Bettina (Barbie Sabino).

Their relationship wasn’t easy as Andeng didn’t only have to gain the trust and favor of his three kids, but to also the assume the duties of a hands-on homemaker as their stepmother.

Maja Salvador

From being that teenage girl whose journey of finding and reuniting with her father, former actor Ross Rival, moved the nation, Maja Salvador went on to stir us with her performances in the teleseryes she starred in.

She initially impressed us with her portrayal of teen characters and teen counterparts of older artists, such as in It Might Be You (2003), Spirits (2004), and MMK, and Your Song Presents, then went on to astound us with the versatility and dramatic chops she exhibited in her succeeding projects.

In 2011, she became an on-screen mom in the finale of Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin after her character Krista gave birth to twin boys. The same went to her character Margaux in the 2012 series Ina, Kapatid, Anak, who had her child baptized at the same time with her sister Celine’s (Kim Chiu) baby.

The 32-year-old actress then went on to surprise us when she accepted the role of Nicole in the 2014 series The Legal Wife, a woman who got engaged in an illicit affair with a married man and later on bore their child.

Her latest Kapamilya teleserye stint was The Killer Bride, wherein her character Camila stood as the adoptive mom of Janella Salvador’s Emma, who was later on revealed to be her biological daughter.

While some of them have already become parents in real life, others are either still single or have already found the man they would want to be with for the rest of their lives. Regardless, may we all not forget to honor, celebrate, and appreciate the lives of every mother in the world. Happy Mother’s Day!
