In the past two decades, ABS-CBN has been consistent in providing Filipinos with heartwarming and inspiring Christmas Station IDs accompanied with LSS-inducing anthems that speak of hope, love, faith, and joy.
And now that we’re already in the “Ber Months,” the time has arrived again when we watch and listen over and over again to the Kapamilya Yuletide hymns that have kept us company through the years during this season.
While we are all waiting for the full launch of this year’s Christmas ID produced by ABS-CBN entitled “Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t Isa” which teaser was already released this October, have you ever wondered what were the top 5 most viewed Kapamilya Christmas station IDs? Well, just in case you did, here’s a rundown!
“Bro, Ikaw Ang Star ng Pasko” (2009)
Number of views: 44,639,011 as of this writing
Undeniably the top favorite Christmas Station ID and anthem of all-time, “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko” was an ode to the unwavering faith, steadfastness, and resiliency exuded by us Filipinos when the country was terribly devastated by Typhoon Ondoy in 2009. It was also inspired by the well-loved teleserye May Bukas Pa aired during that year, wherein the lead protagonist Santino, portrayed by then-childstar Zaijian Jaranilla fondly calls Jesus Christ “Bro,” thus, the title. The music video is also iconic for the illuminated handheld capiz lanterns used by the artists and other people included in the production, which signified the hope brought by God’s love to us.
“Ngayong Pasko Magniningning ang Pilipino” (2010)
Number of views: 16,234,382 as of this writing
This magical Christmas station ID speaks of the wishes we have for ourselves, loved ones, other people, and the whole world. It highlights “Pinoy Pride” as it featured some of the achievements that our talented kababayans had obtained that year in the international scene, particularly in the fields of music and athletics, as well as how Filipinos continue to shine globally through the undying service and dedication of our valiant overseas Filipino workers. This also reminds us that amid everything that we’re going through in life, may we always choose to see or celebrate Christmas through the eyes of a child -- filled with delight, love, contentment, and gratitude.
“Family is Forever” (2019)
Number of views: 10,858,502 as of this writing
In light of the celebration of the 65 years of ABS-CBN in the service of Filipinos worldwide, this showcases how we greatly value family and some of the remarkable moments in the previous Christmas station IDs. The accompanying song is also a mash-up of the previous hymns, to which not only the celebritries sang along, but our Kapamilyas from various communities as well.
Aside from that, we’re also able to witness the moving reunions of some Kapamilya artists with the individuals, families, and groups whose inspiring stories were featured in the past station IDs.
“Magkasama Tayo sa Kuwento ng Pasko” (2013)
Number of views: 10,182,314 as of this writing
This Christmas station ID collated the inspiring stories of OFWs and ordinary individuals, and even families or organizations, who have either at one point touched the lives of some of our Kapamilya artists with their unforgettable encounter or resembled the characters they portrayed in their television or movie project.
Since that year is also the 60th anniversary of ABS-CBN, it also incorporated clips taken from the massive celebrations Quezon City Grand Kapamilya Weekend and One Kapamilya Go held in Quezon City Circle and in the United States, respectively, that were attended by thousands of Kapamilya fans.
“Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kuwento ng Pasko” (2012)
Number of views: 9,502,446 as of this writing
The same with “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko”, this Christmas station ID was also inspired by the challenges that our country went through in the recent years then. It paid tribute to our modern-day heroes who selflessly and passionately imparted -- and even sacrificed -- their lives in order to serve their fellowmen, as well as reminded us to be a beacon of hope and inspiration towards the people around us.
