It’s already been a week since ABS-CBN heeded to the cease-and-desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released last May 5, halting its broadcast operations immediately after TV Patrol.
Since the network has been a significant part of our daily lives through the years, many of us couldn’t help but express our shock, ire, and despair over what happened. Not only the artists and employees working in the media giant and advocates of press freedom aired their sentiments on social media, but our avid Kapamilya viewers from different parts of the Philippines and the world as well.
As we already miss delivering good vibes and inspiration through our entertainment programs, as well as factual and relevant information from our news and current affairs shows, we recently asked our beloved Kapamilya netizens via the official Facebook page of ABS-CBN what are the five shows that they’re yearning to see on television now that the network is on shutdown.
Going through the comments section, our Kapamilyas enthusiastically conveyed how much they miss tuning in to ABS-CBN Channel 2 daily from early morning ‘til midnight, especially now that almost everyone is at home.
Majority of them imparted longing to have the gregarious family of It’s Showtime as their companion every lunchtime because of the laughter and good vibes they relentlessly bring.
Next to the long-running noontime show, Korean drama fans also aired feeling “bitin” over Love In Sadness that is being shown in the morning, as the last episode they saw prior the suspension of operations was already intense.
Despite already seeing them years ago and knowing how the story unraveled, many fervent Kapamilya supporters still apparently can’t get enough of well-loved teleseryes The Legal Wife (2014), Walang Hanggan (2012), and Got To Believe (2013). These shows were being rerun on the Kapamilya Gold block as part of the temporary changes in the programming of ABS-CBN in light of the enhanced community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Kapamilya netizens also conveyed miss watching the news and current affairs shows of ABS-CBN, such as TV Patrol and Umagang Kay Ganda, attending mass via the The Healing Eucharist aired every Sunday morning, as well as tuning in to the digital free-to-air channels owned by the network that are also currently signed off.
Apart from sharing the TV programs they’ve been missing to see on the small screen nowadays, our Kapamilyas also related how staying at home has gone boring now that they can’t see their favorite shows.
We’re hopeful to be with you again soon, Kapamilya. For now, you can watch some of the show highlights on the network’s ABS-CBN Facebook page, YouTube channel and ent.abs-cbn.com, as well as watch the full episodes on iWant.
