Loisa Andalio, primed as the next major female lead star, has nothing but gratitude for the trust and confidence Star Cinema gave her in topbilling its Valentine’s season offering, “James & Pat & Dave,” a romantic comedy about taking a second shot at love currently showing in theaters.
She said she could not contain her happiness ever since she stepped in the project last year.
“After five years ako nandito sa showbiz, ngayon ako nabigyan ng ganitong kalaking break at opportunity kaya sobrang grateful talaga ako. Sobrang masaya na actually nakita na nila ako parang pinagkatiwalaan na din ako,” Loisa revealed to Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com in an exclusive interview.
“Masaya ang feeling. Sobrang pasasalamat sa Lord kasi grabe parang wow!” Loisa said emphatically.
Loisa plays Pat, the perky, boisterous, yet heartbroken damsel who would find love again in unexpected twists and turns.
“Minahal ko ang character”
She said playing the character was not just something she had to as an actress, but was also really close to her heart.
The character, she added, was a welcome departure from all the previous roles she played in films and teleseryes, since her breakout stint as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother All-In in 2014.
“Sobrang kakaiba.
And, she really poured her best into each scene they shot, saying she didn’t want to waste any moment in this opportunity of a lifetime.
Praise and appreciation
And it really touched her to learn how people truly praised and appreciated her performance, emerging from screenings.
She recounted that moment she and “James & Pat & Dave” co-star Ronnie Alonte, who is also her off-screen boyfriend, met people outside the cinema.
Oh, parang nakakakilig sila parang grabe,” Loisa was thrilled in recalling the experience.
“James & Pat & Dave” is Loisa’s first major project in a lead role, and her launching movie with her on- and off-screen partner Ronnie, her boyfriend of three years since working together on It’s Showtime as members of Hashtags and GirlTrends.
With this accomplishment, Loisa said it seems surreal.
Happy with rom-coms
With the success of her first major film, Loisa is looking forward to more projects that should showcase her impressive talent and broad relatable appeal as an actress—from suspense or horror films, to maybe a grand melodrama on TV. But she’s happy if she’ll get more of the light, rom-com stuff, “James & Pat & Dave,” which is really her “forte.”
“Mas gusto ko pa rin maglaro dito (sa rom-com genre) ,” she said.
