It’s Showtime host Kim Chiu just recently reached three-million subscribers on her YouTube channel! And as a treat to her ardent fans and avid viewers, she finally gave us a tour around her rest house in Tagaytay City, which she’d been teasing us in the past years through her social media posts.
She divided the house tour into two vlogs that she uploaded in two consecutive weeks – with the first part showing us the exterior, while the second part giving us a glimpse of its minimalist and cozy interior. Unlike other homes that typically have wooden doors, theirs had a set of sliding glass doors that serve as entrance and exit to the receiving area.
Since their family is half-Chinese, she made sure to have their entire humble abode Feng Shui infused. With the living room being the center and the space where their family and friends often gather, she made had the carpet inspired by the agate stone, which is known to channel harmony. This area boasts a comfy light gray sofa, a few appliances and furniture, and a large window that has a majestic view of Taal Lake and is covered by translucent white and cream curtains.
The Chinita Princess also took the painting of pink peony flowers from her home office and has it displayed there because she thought that it looks better there and it represents beauty, charm, and wealth for women. She then showed her most favorite spot in that area, which is a swivel upholstered accent chair positioned at the window, then their flat screen television and huge boom box.
As she went upstairs to the kitchen and dining, she showed the stunning chandeliers, minimalist painting, and wood polymer composite-decking (WPC) that she still finds really impressive. Since she’s born in the Year of the Horse, she decided to hang a peacock painting in the south part of their house to attract luck.
Aside from that, there are more luck activators placed in their dining area, which features a six-seater dining set, a lounge chair by the window overlooking, a yin yang and eight koi fishes painting that she bought during her trip to Thailand with her boyfriend Xian Lim, and a money tree that was a gift from her Feng Shui master-friend. It is adorned by synthetic ponkan fruits and ang paos, in which she puts money that she will eventually deposit to her bank account as soon as the year ends and replaces it with new ones at the beginning of the Chinese New Year.
“Nilagay ko ‘to sa Tagaytay kasi isa ‘to sa mga lugar na gusto kong mag-attract ng luck. Kaya maraming luck activator dito sa bahay na ito. And parang totoo naman. Kapag nanggagaling ako sa bahay na ‘to, pagbaba ko ng Maynila, parang na-recharge ako. Parang positive ‘yong energy na binibigay nito,” she imparted.
Wanting to have homier vibe at the kitchen, she made sure to have a bar area, a.k.a. breakfast nook, where she would sit and talk to anyone, seemingly with her Ate Lakam most of the time. She then gave us a tour around, showing us the sink and aesthetic marble countertop that holds the kitchen appliances.
Kim also promised to give us a glimpse of the five bed rooms in another vlog, as she showed us the breathtaking view of Taal Lake and surrounding greeneries. It is adjacent to her bedroom, providing her a stunning view of the sunrise and a fully immersive experience of nature.
“Nakakapag-relax talaga ako, nakakapag-isip, at saka nace-center ko ‘yong sarili ko. Kasi ‘di ba, sobrang gulo, sobrang ang daming pressure, ang dami kong gustong mangyari sa buhay? Pero kapag nandito ako, parang nagpa-pause and chill,” she said.
Then she added, “We have to sometimes pause and chill kahit ang dami nating gustong gawin nang sabay-sabay. Kapag masyado nang overwhelming, parang gusto ko lang pumunta rito and think, and breath. Tapos pag-uwi ko ng Maynila, parang, ‘yes, ganito lang pala dapat. Isa-isa lang.”
Since there’s a huge flat screen TV and table and chair sets at the terrace, the multi-faceted actress shared that they also spend their time there chilling or even hold their little merrymaking. Being able to experience everything makes her feel delighted that she couldn’t ask for more, as well as proud of herself for working so hard in order to attain it.
She capped off the vlog by thanking everyone who have been supporting her, as well as told us to watch out for more upcoming vlogs featuring her beautiful rest house. She also expressed her gratitude to her architects and other people who helped her turn her dream house into a reality.
