The Muhlach Clan has been in the limelight since the 1960s. It all started with Amalia Fuentes who is once dubbed as the Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines. She was born Amalia Muhlach to Alvaro Muhlach, Sr., a Spanish-German, and Concepcion Amador, a Chinese mestiza. She has two brothers: Alexander and the younger Alvaro. Their father passed away in 1945 and their mother remarried Isagani Fuentes, thus the use of Amalia Fuentes as the actress' screen name.
Sampaguita Pictures launched Amalia Fuentes into full stardom in 1956 after she won Ms. Number One alongside Juancho Gutierrez, Mr. Number One. She was initially paired with Juancho and then with Romeo Vasquez (Roberto Sumilang)—who she married. She was also the first-ever Filipina endorser of Lux. Aside from being a former superstar, she also wrote screenplays, directed a few films, and even produced several movies. She has her own production company called AM Productions, which she used to co-own with his two brothers. Alexander and Alvaro later started D'Wonder Films.
Actress Liezl Martinez (Anna Lisa Sumilang, 1967-2015) was the daughter of Amalia and Romeo. She was married to actor Albert Martinez, current lead of the afternoon teleserye "All of Me.
" Liezl was survived by their three kids: Alyanna, Alfonso, and Alissa. Alfonso, the oldest of the three, made his TV debut in 1992 as Alfons in the children's gag and variety show Ang TV. A year after, he played as the nephew of real-life uncle Aga Muhlach in the sitcom Oki Doki Doc. After 14 years, he was launched as one of the members of Star Magic Batch 15 and the group dubbed as "Royalties" because of their family connections in the show business. He joined the cast of "Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv
," which later became "Abt Ur Luv, Ur Lyf 2
" and two other "Star Magic Presents" episodes in 2008.
Alexander Muhlach and Rebecca Rocha had six children. One of them is Niño Muhlach who started as a child actor. He is dubbed as the "Child Wonder of the Philippines" and is the highest-paid child actor in the history of Filipino cinema. He had one child with Edith Millare, her spouse from 2005 to 2005. His second child, Alonzo Muhlach, is with Diane Abby Tupaz. Alonzo is now a child actor himself and stars in ABS-CBN's "Inday Bote."
Alvaro "Cheng" Muhlach is an actor and producer known for "Abogado de Campanilla"
(1973), "Heredera" (1970), and "Liezl at ang 7 Hoods (
1971)." He has four children with Anita Aquino, namely: Aga (born Ariel), Arlene (born Alryn), Andoy, and Almira. Except for Andrew, the three, like their half-brother AJ, are all part of the entertainment industry.
Aga is a multi-awarded winning Filipino actor and product endorser. He was first introduced to the industry as "Ariel Muhlach" at the age of seven. After the success of the 1984 film Bagets, he became more known for his screen name Aga. He has a son named Luigi (or Igi Boy), a child star turned chef, with actress Janice de Belen. Aga married former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales in 2001. The Muhlach-Gonzales couple has twins: Andres and Atasha.
Arlene is known for "May Bukas Pa"
(2010), and "Walang Hanggan"
Almira started acting in her teen years in the 90s. She made her comeback in the hit teleserye "Forevermore" as the mother of Agnes (Liza Soberano).
AJ (Adrian Justine) starred in a TV version of Bagets, title of the similar film once starred in by his older brother Aga. He was part of the teleserye "Be Careful with My Heart"
as Amiel Sebastian.
