Kapamilya Tree: The Gutierrez Family

Kapamilya Tree The Gutierrez Family 1
The family of the Gutierrezes is, more often than not, the fodder of controversies and entertainment news.  This cannot be avoided especially with a big showbiz family like theirs. In another edition of the Kapamilya Tree, we bring you their genealogy—from the family patriarch to the latest addition to the clan.
Filipino actor and former matinee idol Eddie Gutierrez (born Jorge Eduardo Pickett Gutierrez, 1942) is the man behind it all. He is the son of a Filipino mestizo and a Filipina of Canadian and Spanish descent. He started as a bit player in a 1958 film titled "Prinsesang Gusgusin" until he played lead in subsequent movies like "Kaming Makasalanan" (1960), "Eddie Longlegs" (1964), and so on. In 1991, he was nominated as Best Supporting Actor by the Film Academy of the Philippines for "Uubusin Ko ang Lahi Mo." The following year, he received the Best Actor award from the same award-giving body for "Ikaw Pa Lang ang Minahal."
He is married to Anabelle Rama with whom he has six children: Rocky, Richard, Ritchie, Raymond, Ruffa, and Elvis. He has two kids from previous relationships: Tonton with actress Liza Lorena in 1964 and Ramon Christopher with singer Pilita Corrales in 1971.
Born Eduardo Antonio Gutierrez, Jr., Tonton is a film and TV actor known for his role as Victor Vergara in the current teleserye "You're My Home." He first appeared on the big screen in 1986 through "Captain Barbell". He also played the role of Gov. Eduardo Buenavista in the first run of Pangako Sa 'Yo in 2000. Married for 15 years now to actress Glydel Mercado, he has two daughters: Annyza and Annyka.
Ramon Christopher (aka Monching) started his acting career in the teen-oriented show “That’s Entertainment" where he was paired with Lotlot de Leon. He used to be married with the co-star and has four children with her: Janine, Jessica, Maxine, and Diego. The eldest of the four, Janine Marie Elizabeth Olson Gutierrez, started dabbling into the TV industry in 2011. The actress-television host- commercial model also appears in the movie "Buy Now, Die Later," an entry in the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival.
Ruffa, the only daughter of Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez, is a model, beauty queen, and actress. She won the title of Miss World - Asia & Oceania and placed second runner-up to Miss World Winner Lisa Hanna of Jamaica in 1993. She started appearing on television in 1995 through a noontime variety show. She was married to Turkish businessman Yilmaz Bektas from 2003 to 2007. They had two children: Lorin Gabriella and Venezia Loran.
Richard and Raymond are the twin siblings of the brood. They started acting as kids but later on ventured into different fields in the entertainment industry: Raymond in hosting and Richard in teleseryes and drama films.
Now part of the Gutierrez family is Swiss-Filipina Sarah Lahbati, partner of Richard. She is a regular dance performer on the Sunday variety show ASAP. She'll soon be joining Kapamilya stars Toni Gonzaga, Piolo Pascual, Jolina Magdangal, and Sam Milby in the soap opera "Written In Our Stars" to be launched in early 2016. Their son, Zion, was born in Switzerland in April 2013.
Ritchie Paul Gutierrez is the youngest of the six and the last one to enter the showbusiness. He tries to veer away from his family's shadow, no matter how impossible that may seem, by doing good in his talent in songwriting. Like his older siblings Rocky and Elvis, he has also ventured in teleseryes.
The colorful world of the Rama-Gutierrez has been featured in their very own reality show. Only time will tell when Zion will appear on the big and small screen more regularly.
