K-Love hits home in so many ways. With loads of humor fused with touching, relatable scenes, it’s like the best friend we’ve always wanted to have when we need comfort, a little push, and a ton of laughter.

Honestly, we fell in love at first watch!

This Viu Original series focuses on the lives of five urbanites showing what it’s like to, well, be human dealing with pretty tough realities of love, career, family, friendship, and dreams.

The show commences with Tish (Iza Calzado), the alpha female pressured to get married after a poignant realization about her body clock ticking and parents getting old. Just when she’s grieving her failed relationship, her batchmate Jay (Jake Cuenca) arrives from Singapore and remnants of their high school romance come alive. We also meet Sheila (Isabelle Daza), the momfluencer who still carries traces of her competitiveness in high school. Then, they have Val (Sue Ramirez), a budding entrepreneur with family issues that connects her to Jay. The perennially optimistic gal of the group is Gabby Padilla as Frances, who came to Tish’s unit with her K-drama recos one night, initiating their weekly binge-watch session.

These characters all have different backgrounds but somehow, they manage to come together and be there for each other, thanks to their love for K-dramas. With that, we commend the actors’ heartwarming chemistry. Iza, Jake, Isabelle, Sue, and Gabby are a match made in heaven, a squad we wish to be part of. The creatives and production team have done a good job casting these actors.

Iza has no doubt perfected the art of looking divine on screen. She is handed a few crying scenes, but she also pulls off the comedy that punctuates her emotions. For us who’ve seen Jake in his earliest portrayals consider this his rom-com homecoming and we can all agree that his charm has never faded after all these years. His stares and smiles at Iza, although tender, are enough to make our hearts melt. We found ourselves rooting for Tish and Jay.

Isabelle will make you laugh with her superb acting, especially in her ‘Marites’ moments and when she puts on a show to prove herself as the batch’s reigning Queen Bee. Sheila and her cheerleading moves – for the win! The dinner scene in Episode 4 cracked us up from start to finish. Sue and Gabby represent the friendships between independent people learning to navigate the real world including the millennial dating scene, which many viewers can sure relate to.

K-Love has the right amount of everything – a complete package – from hilarity to ‘kilig’ and a bit of drama, all of which are never exaggerated. While it’s familiar on the surface, for some reason, it still resonates. It presents the ‘ordinary’ in a manner that’s romanticized yet inspiring.

Unlike typical local productions infused with a spectacle of sampalan, sabunutan and shouting match, K-Love offers pure light-hearted fun without trivializing the personal burdens carried by the characters.

While a lot can happen in a single episode since each character is given an equal amount of spotlight, the seamless editing keeps it easy to follow. In a true K-drama fashion, the use of cliffhangers is guaranteed to keep viewers hooked. The fast-paced storytelling, easily-digestible format coupled with stunning visuals – cozy spaces and vibrant colors – is sure to impress the Pinoy audience and its Asian counterparts as well.

K-Love will hit viewers right in the feels. It’s a wonderful, feel-good depiction of the ups and downs of life through the characters’ compelling experiences without breaking off from its core, which is the healing power of friendship and K-drama. The series itself is a lesson in resilience and empathy as the characters aid each other in navigating their problems and emotional wounds.

In the latest episode, things get k-razy as the squad invades K-pop idol Park Jin Ho’s exclusive fan meet. And it’s a rollercoaster ride getting there! We’re talking bardagulan showdown to prove one’s K-drama devotion and dirty tactics to score golden tickets.

K-drama tropes can happen in real life, right? You’ll see that in the daebak adventures of Tish, Jay, Sheila, Val, and Frances in K-Love, Philippines’ first K-drama-inspired series, and the most-watched program on the Viu PH platform to date as per viewership ratings (Nov 2022).

It’s not too late to catch up on the adventures of Tish, Jay, Sheila, Val, and Frances in K-Love, all available for streaming for FREE with a brand-new episode every Friday only on Viu. Just visit this link: https://bit.ly/K-LoveABSCBN
