Nearly a decade after he first stepped in the Pilipinas Got Talent auditions, its Second Season grand winner Marcelito Pomoy is again not only the talk of the town but a hot trending topic internationally after entering the semifinals of the latest season of America’s Got Talent, dubbed “The Champions.” This was after shocking the audience and the judges in the auditions on Monday (January 16) with his remarkable talent first discovered on PGT in 2011 that astonished everyone—impeccably singing both a male tenor and female soprano in one performance.

The Imus, Cavite native sang his signature “duet yourself” rendition of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s “The Prayer” that fascinated the American audience and the judges composed of Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Alesha Dixon, and Howie Mandel, who were blown away by what they heard and gave him a standing ovation.

But before this marvelous stint on America’s Got Talent, Marcelito’s journey from being an abandoned street kid to becoming the toast of the reality talent contest was truly inspiring. Marcelito started his stride into the PGT auditions as a scrappy youngster who was banking on his talent to find the family he longed for.

Marcelito’s success on PGT was nothing but phenomenal, and after being named the Grand Winner of PGT Season 2, his life turned for the better, highlighted by his reunion with his family after the PGT Grand Finals and meeting the woman of his dreams, his wife Joan Paraiso. Above all, he became a star performer, with a thriving professional career as a stage performer and a TV personality.

Marcelito then became a regular performer on ASAP, astonishing viewers with his amazing vocal talent.

Moreso, he would also display previously unforeseen street dancing skills that surprised the madlang people on the Clash of Celebrities on It’s Showtime.

He would also guest on other ABS-CBN shows to showcase his breathtaking ability and inspiring story.

He would then get international attention after guesting on the talk show Ellen. He talked about his experience in an interview on Magandang Buhay.

Gaining global attention, Marcelito then decided to compete on the newest season of America’s Got Talent, wherein champions of previous international editions of the show would compete. Before his appearance on AGT, Marcelito would perform on ASAP for a marvelous operatic ensemble number, wherein he soared anew.

How will Marcelito fare in America’s Got Talent: The Champions? As he told Simon during the auditions, he is there “to win.” And certainly, Marcelito Pomoy will have a great chance in achieving that, after getting the biggest number of superfan votes from across the United States to enter the semifinals.
