Any awards show for television and/or movies would never be complete without recognizing the on-screen pairs who have not only astounded us with their compelling performances, but also filled our favorite teleseryes and films with kilig and good vibes.
And in the seventh staging of PUSH Awards this 2022, the annual fan-voted awards show of ABS-CBN’s entertainment website PUSH.com.ph, five Kapamilya fresh and young loveteams are nominated for the “PUSH Popular Loveteam of the Year” category that include Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano (DonBelle), Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes (SethDrea), Kyle Echarri and Francine Diaz (KyCine), Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza (KarJon), and Kobie Brown and Andi Abaya (KoDrea).
They may be paired with their other contemporaries before, but destiny indeed had its way to make the paths of Donny and Belle cross in 2019 – by having them star in the TV adaptation of the popular teen novel He’s Into Her. The remarkable success of their first-ever team-up brought them the digital flick “Love Is Color Blind” and the highly anticipated “He’s Into Her Season 2.”
Never did Seth imagined that he’s longtime celebrity crush Andrea would become his loveteam partner when he joined showbiz after his Pinoy Big Brother Otso stint. He was able to work with her on his first-ever acting project Kadenang Ginto and the SethDrea tandem was born and have been embraced by their throngs of supporters. They went on to topbill the iWantTFC original movie “Wild Little Love”, the Kapamilya inspirational series Huwag Kang Mangamba, and the iQiyi digital romance-comedy series “Saying Goodbye.”
Both kicking off their showbiz careers as child stars, Kyle and Francine went on to become among the most promising and well-loved artists and hottest loveteams of this generation. They were first paired with one another in Kadenang Ginto, which was succeeded by their stints in the iWantTFC original film “Silly Red Shoes” and series “Bawal Lumabas: The Series,” as well as in the Kapamilya inspirational series Huwag Kang Mangamba.
Their unmistakable chemistry was truly notable during their PBB Otso stint. Thus, it has been easy for Karina and Aljon to score projects as soon as they stepped out of the house. They were tapped to be part of the afternoon soap opera Sandugo (2019), two seasons of the iWantTFC original series “Hoy Love You,” and now Viral Scandal. They also had the chance to take on the lead roles in the interactive online flick “Ghost of the Past,” which was part of Star Hunt’s “PILIkula” series.
They may have fallen short in their bid to become the Big Winner of PBB Connect, Kobie and Andrea have indeed gotten more than what they came for. Aside from fulfilling their personal missions and ambitions, a wonderful bond bloomed between them, thus, the KoDrea loveteam was born. And it seems that everything between them is getting real already as Andre revealed in one of her media interviews last year that Kobie has started courting her! They had also scored their first acting project together via the iQiyi digital romance-comedy series “Saying Goodbye.”
Aside from “Popular Loveteam of the Year”, fandoms may also vote for their favorite celebrities in other categories, namely, PUSH Content Creator of the Year, PUSH Music Personality of the Year, PUSH Social Media Personality of the Year, PUSH Trending Tiktoker of the Year, PUSH Favorite Onscreen Performance of the Year, and PUSH Celebrity Mom of the Year.
A special category is also added this year named PUSH Inspiration 2021, which aims to honor an individual who’s an epitome of empowerment by bringing pride to the country with their achievements and boosting the morale of Filipinos amid these trying times. This is not fan-voted.
Vote for your favorites on push.abs-cbn.com/vote from January 31 until February 27. The winners will be announced in a virtual awarding ceremony on March 4.
