BINI on BGYO collab Kapamilya Chat

BINI had fun working with their sibling group BGYO for their first original song collab, “Up,” which is about reaching dreams. The well-loved girl group talked about the experience in this episode of Kapamilya Chat.

While “Up” marks BINI – Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Sheena – and BGYO’s first official record together, they already shared several performances, and that makes this recent collaboration easier. “Ang fun lang po ng pagkagawa ng video and music kasi we started out as siblings and fun lang po talaga. We really had so much fun and I think it was relayed naman po sa music na ‘pag napakinggan po siya, sobrang nakakatuwa,” said Aiah. BINI Gwen added that shooting the music video in Dubai makes for an extraordinary experience.

The two groups recorded the song apart, so they were just as thrilled to hear the final mix. BINI also mentioned that there were impromptu changes in the key, which they quite expected from Star Music’s Jonathan Manalo.
“It was a challenge po kasi in-expect po namin na smooth lang ‘yung recording pero tinaas nang tinaas nang tinaas [yung key]. Pero ‘yun ang fun part dun, na-cha-challenge kami on the spot at sanay na rin kami kay Sir Jonathan na marami pong adlibs on the spot,” shared Sheena.

Maloi seconded, “Actually, in general po, ‘pag nagre-record kami ni Sir Jonathan, may naiisip siya on the spot. So, sobrang nakaka-challenge po. Actually, ang sarap din po sa feeling na ‘yung pressure, parang, ‘Oh my God, kaya ko pala ‘tong gawin.’ Mas gumaganda po talaga ‘yung mga kanta.”

They also learned the dance steps separately, then rehearsed together for three days. Thanks to their team spirit grown through years of training, BINI and BGYO’s collaboration went smooth-sailing. “Sinabi sa amin na it was a collaborative song, we we’re excited kasi madali lang sa amin makasama ‘yung boys. They’re easy to hang out with kasi we’ve been trainees for a long time,” expressed Mikha.

Their closeness was evident in the music video shot during their trip to Dubai. There was no script to follow. They all just enjoyed their adventure. Jhoanna revealed that some clips were shot with their camera phones.

Mikha added, “It didn’t feel like work. Parang we're just having fun. Music video na pala ‘yung shino-shoot namin. We’re just having fun, enjoying the moment.”

The girls went on to share their favorite lines from the song and invited fans to stream “Up” and check out the music video out now on Star Music’s YouTube Channel.
