H&M and The Voice Kids Season 3 vowed to turn kids with big dreams into remarkable young artists—and after weeks of thorough preparation, they finally fulfilled their promise. Get to know the three talented bets of Familea:
Ang Artistic Apo ng Cebu, Yessha De La Calzada
Don’t let her age fool you; Yessha de la Calzada may be the youngest of the bunch, but contenders shouldn't treat her lightly. Not only does she have the charm, but her pipes and energy will surprise you—trust us.
Yessha discovered her wonderful voice while singing in front of an electric fan. From that simple moment, she was ushered into something bigger: Her interest in music grew, then she started joining school recitals and big talent competitions—not just to share her god given talent, but to carve her own name in the music industry where her beloved Lolo once belonged to.
But of all the contests she’s been through, it’s The Voice Kids Season 3 that made the most impact: It’s where she explored her full potential, met new friends, and learned to upgrade her confidence and fashion sense. Performing on TV means putting your best self forward—talent, personality, and fashion wise. For someone whose wish is to perform with a princess-like outfit, H&M definitely granted Yessha’s dream. Now, the only wish this young lady is working on is the championship.
Ang Hopeful Son from Antique, Joshua Oliveros
Grabbing a box of tissue each time Joshua Oliveros performs has become a norm; we can’t even remember the last time he didn’t break our hearts. But what can we do? When you know that he’s using his voice to mend his family’s broken ties, having so much feels is totally inevitable.
Fortunately, Joshua’s still blessed with many other things: His soulful voice, the undying support of his dad, a new and complete family in the form of Familea, and preppy clothes to match his show-stopping performance. Considering their financial burdens, him being raised by his father alone, buying trendy outfits has never been a priority. Thanks to H&M, all Joshua has to worry about is his award-winning piece.
The results may or may not favor Joshua, but one thing is for sure: Joshua has something heart-melting in store for us. “Kung na- inspire ko po yong mga nakarinig sa akin noon sa Blind Auditions, Battles at Sing offs, ngayon naman po ipapalabas ko na rin po ang totoong Joshua na gustong ibahagi ang kwento at inspirasyon ng buhay sa pamamagitan ng pagkanta po.”
Ang Future Star Singer Ng Laguna, Angel Peñaflor
No artist would say that the road to pursuing their chosen career is easy; some didn‘t even have the chance to start their journey— like Angel Peñaflor’s mom. Thus, explains the young artist’s strong will to make her own destiny different.
At the tender age of three, Angel had shown a deep interest in music: listening to cassette tapes and humming along with the song in tune. So when her parents—especially her mom—saw her passion for music, they didn’t hesitate to pour their all-out support. Something that Angel graciously paid back by pulling off a 3-chair turning performance during the Blind Audition.
What makes Angel’s star shine among the rest is her charisma, confidence, flexibility to different genres, and her unbeatable determination to excel. And with all the H&M battle-ready pieces she has, Angel is more than ready to conquer the upcoming semi- finals.
We absolutely hope Angel Peñaflor’s destiny will be the fullfillment of her mother’s dream.
