Throwback: Philippine Delegates During the Miss Universe Q & A Portion

Ang Miss Universe ay hindi lamang labanan ng kagandahan kundi kasama na rin dito ang pasiklaban sa galing sa pagsagot. Ito ang naging edge nina Gloria Diaz noong 1969, Margie Moran noong 1973 at Pia Wurtzbach noong 2015 para masungkit nila ang titulong Miss Universe.

Balikan natin ang mga tanong at sagot nilang tatlo at pati na rin ng iba pang mga kandidata ng Pilipinas sa Q & A portion ng Miss Universe.

Question for Gloria Diaz (Miss Universe 1969): "In the next day or so, a man will land on the moon. If a man from the moon landed in your hometown, what would you do to entertain him?"

Gloria Diaz's answer: "Oh, just the same things I do. I think if he has been on the moon for so long, I think when he comes over he wants to change, I guess."

Question for Margie Moran (Miss Universe 1973): “Let's make believe that all of a sudden you had a million dollars. What's the first thing you would buy and why would you buy it?"

Margie Moran's answer: "A house and lot because it's the most expensive thing and I can't afford it. If I had a million bucks, I'll buy a house and lot and live by myself and other people of course"

Question for Charlene Gonzales (Miss Universe 1994 Top 6): “If you could be a fictional film or literary character, who would you be and why?”

Charlene Gonzales’s answer: ''I think I would be Superwoman because she helps a lot of people, she’s very fun, and she’s a dynamic person who does many deeds for our world.”

Question for Miriam Quiambao (Miss Universe 1999 First Runner Up): “If Miss Universe were to become pregnant during her reign, should she be allowed to continue as Miss Universe?”

Miriam Quiambao’s answer: “That’s a very difficult situation to be in and I believe that the Miss Universe, if ever she becomes pregnant, I believe that she should continue with her reign if she has been a good example to be a Miss Universe, if she has pursued all the… all the goals that she has, that she had, in the first place, and I believe that she should continue.”

Question for Venus Raj (Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up): “What is one big mistake that you've made in your life and what did you do to make it right?”

Venus Raj’s answer: "In my 22 years of existence, I can say that there is nothing major major, I mean, problem that I have done in my life, because I am very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I am here, thank you, thank you so much.”

Question for Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up): “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not?”

Shamcey Supsup’s answer: “If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person that I love is God who created me and I have my faith and my principles and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too.”

Question for Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 2012 First Runner Up): "As an international ambassador, do you believe that speaking English should be a prerequisite for Miss Universe? Why or why not?"

Janine Tugonon's answer: "For me, being Miss Universe is not just about knowing how to speak a specific language. It's being able to influence and inspire other people. So whatever language you have, as long as your heart wants to serve and you have a strong mind to show to people, then you can be Miss Universe."

Question for Ariella Arida (Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up): "What can be done about the lack of jobs for young people starting their careers around the world?"

Ariella Arida’s answer: "For the people who have lack of jobs, I do believe that we people should invest in education and that is my primary advocacy, because we all know that if everyone of us is educated and well aware of what we are doing, we could land into jobs and we could land a good career in the future. Education is the primary source and is a ticket for a better future."
