Starting this Sunday, April 16, coaches Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo and Sharon Cuneta are back in search for the next singing sensation in “The Voice Teens”.
Broadway Diva Lea became a coach of “The Voice” on the very first season. FamiLEA has already produced two winners, Mitoy Yonting for the first season of “The Voice of the Philippines” and Joshua Oliveros for the third season of “The Voice Kids”.
To celebrate the achievements of the past contestants of “The Voice”, let us find out where are they now and what have they done after their stints in the reality singing competition. Here are some updates of the successful contenders from Team Lea or FamiLEA.
Noel Comia Jr.
Even before joining the singing competition, Noel has been impressing audiences as a musical theater actor in productions such as “Pinocchio”, “The Secret Garden” and “Prinsipeng Munti”. Coming from this background, he felt really excited when Lea Salonga turned her chair for him. Under her guidance, this Batangueño gave spectacular performances in the third season of “The Voice Kids”. Unfortunately, he lost to eventual season winner Joshua Oliveros in the Sing-offs. That was not the end of the road however for this young star. Nowadays, he is hosting events, recording jingles and still gracing the stage as an actor. His most recent appearance was the local production of “Fun Home” starring his coach Lea Salonga. He is also known for his viral rendition of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” with “The Voice Kids” season 2 winner Ella Nympha.
After winning the first ever season of “The Voice of the Philippines”, Mitoy’s career rose to greater heights. He has performed with Philippine Ballet Theater’s two-night concert entitled “Sayaw at Serya”. He also released the music video of his original song “Bulag”. Besides having an amazing voice, he also shows his comedic side regularly in the sitcom “Home Sweetie Home”. When he's not making audiences swoon or laugh, this Pangasinan native also serves as a judge in “Tawag ng Tanghalan” of “It’s Showtime” proving that he really has many talents under his belt.
Esang de Tores
Esang has really gone far after her stint at the second season of “The Voice Kids”. She has appeared at various events and TV shows of the Kapamilya network. She has also performed with musical legend Kuh Ledesma to serenade the Iconic Movie Queens of Cinema at the FAMAS Awards. The young singer also had her own birthday concert and released her first solo album “Ako ay Kakanta”. She was also chosen to sing the theme song of the daytime family drama series “Langit Lupa”. She got a huge break in theater when she was cast as little Cosette in the international hit musical “Les Misérables” during its Manila and Singapore tour.
Timmy was sent home after losing to teammate Leah Patricio just before the finals of the second season. This didn't deter the young heartthrob on his way to reach his dreams. After his stint at “The Voice of the Philippines”, he has released his self-titled album under Star Music last March. Besides containing ballad songs like “I’d Do Anything” that he has been known for, the album also contains upbeat tracks such as “Good Vibes” that show a different side of his musical capability.
Darlene might not have won the first season of “The Voice Kids” but she still walked away with quite the prize having been mentored by Lea Salonga. Choosing the coach proved to be her right move as the Broadway Diva enrolled her in OB Montessori Center and her command of the English language and social skills have vastly improved. Aside from studying, she continues to share her magical voice to the world. Last May 2016, she released her single “Sa Aking Daigdig”, as well as its music video.
After winning the third season of “The Voice Kids”, Joshua is definitely on his way to bigger things, whether that’s graduating from school or releasing the songs of his upcoming self-titled album. His debut single “Nobela” was released last March, hyping his fans for the full release of the album under Universal Records. He also performs regularly on “ASAP” with the other past contestants of the singing competition.
After losing to Eufritz Santos in The Battles of the competition, Camille has found more opportunities to showcase her talent in singing. She was chosen to perform the theme songs of “Flor de Liza”, “Ningning”, and Kidzania. She continues to pursue her passion in singing by uploading song covers and lifestyle vlogs on her Youtube channel. She can also be seen in various events around the metro.
