We may have faced terrible circumstances in the past two years, but those have never hindered ABS-CBN from delivering quality content to avid Kapamilyas in different parts of the world through all its platforms. At the same time, those hitches and the undying love and support have also motivated our Kapamilya artists to further give their all-out performances in the teleseryes they starred in.
Thus, in the seventh edition of PUSH Awards this year, the annual fan-voted awards show of ABS-CBN’s entertainment website PUSH.com.ph, five Kapamilya thespians are nominated for the PUSH Favorite Onscreen Performance of the Year – Jodi Sta. Maria for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, Yassi Pressman for FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, JM de Guzman for Init Sa Magdamag, Andrea Brillantes for Huwag Kang Mangamba, and Erich Gonzales for La Vida Lena.
Before she amazes us anew every weeknight in The Broken Marriage Vow, Jodi astounded us first with her portrayal in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin as Marissa Pineda, a scorned woman who sought revenge against her ex-best friend who she assumed had abandoned her after she owned up the crime she committed. Her notable performance was recognized in the 3rd Laguna Excellence Awards, wherein she bagged the “Outstanding TV Actress of the Year” accolade alongside her co-star Iza Calzado.
Ardent viewers of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano would arguably agree that Yassi had indeed brought a different color and flavor to the action-packed journey of Cardo Dalisay, played by Coco Martin. In her five years on the show, she was able to endear us with her feisty character Alyana, who tragically died in his attempt to save her husband. She may be already out of the narrative, but she’s still known by her ever-iconic role.
From being the admirable kuya in Pamilya Ko, JM de Guzman absolutely shook us with his transformation into the highly-possessive and abusive Peterson Alvarez in Init Sa Magdamag. While it’s easy to love him because he’s handsome and affectionate towards his wife Rita (Yam Concepcion), but his overwhelming love for her went out of hand, to the point that he had put the lives of the people around him in harm.
She may be abhorred for her portrayal of the now-iconic kontrabida Marga Mondragon-Bartolome in the highly successful soap opera Kadenang Ginto, Andrea went on to touch our hearts as the miraculous and kindhearted girl named Mira in Huwag Kang Mangamba. Her journey in restoring the faith of people to God might be an uphill battle, but she was able to succeed with the help of her sister Joy (Francine Diaz) and their friends.
Last, but definitely not the least, is Erich who once again astounded us with her performance as a bida-kontrabida as the titular character in La Vida Lena. Magda, who later on became Lena, may have lived a complicated life, but she eventually achieved her happily ever after in the end.
Aside from “Favorite Onscreen Performance of the Year”, fandoms may also vote for their favorite celebrities in other categories, namely, PUSH Popular Loveteam of the Year, PUSH Music Personality of the Year, PUSH Social Media Personality of the Year, PUSH Trending Tiktoker of the Year, PUSH Popular Content Creator of the Year, and PUSH Celebrity Mom of the Year.
A special category is also added this year named PUSH Inspiration 2021, which aims to honor an individual who’s an epitome of empowerment by bringing pride to the country with their achievements and boosting the morale of Filipinos amid these trying times. However, this is not fan-voted.
Vote for your favorites on push.abs-cbn.com/vote from January 31 until February 27. The winners will be announced in a virtual awarding ceremony on March 4.
