Dubbed as the “Party Prince ng Macau”, singer and dancer Joao Constancia has been climbing up the showbiz royalty ranks since becoming a contestant in ABS-CBN’s reality show Pinoy Boyband Superstar in 2016. The charming heartthrob impressed judges from his audition, earning a whopping 94% score which catapulted him as one of the show’s top contenders. In December 2016, the winners of Pinoy Boyband Superstar were revealed, naming Joao as the official members along with Niel Murillo, Russel Reyes, Tristan Ramirez and Ford Valencia. Together, they are known as the popular group: BoyBandPH.
Born and bred, Pinoy
Joao was born on December 22, 1996 in Macau, China to Filipino parents. In an interview with StarStudio magazine, Joao expressed that even though he had grown up in Macau, he had always been Filipino at heart. Music has been a staple within his family and with most of his friends being musicians as well, it wasn’t surprising that the 21-year-old became a singer himself. His dreams were realized when he found himself auditioning for Pinoy Boyband Superstar. With his talent and good looks, he easily charmed his way into the hearts of the judges and viewers, which led to his grand win and the formation of his group, BoybandPH.
The boy group was introduced in December 2016 after winning in the show, Pinoy Boyband Superstar. Since then, they have appeared in various Kapamilya programs such as ASAP, It’s Showtime and Gandang Gabi Vice. The group released their first single: “We Made It”, which was quickly followed by “Unli” and “Somebody”. All of which are included in their self-titled debut album released under Star Music in early 2017. The album was received well by fans and was given a Gold Record Award.
The group has been promoting ever since, guesting on programs I Can See Your Voice, G Diaries and Wansapanataym Presents Ofishally Yours with Elisse Joson.
Last month, the group also released their latest album: Love, BoyBandPH.
