in an episode of "It's Showtime,"
Francis M fans can't help but sing along the iconic song and feel nostalgic about that time when the Master Rapper was still with us. His success in Filipino hip-hop from underground to mainstream status also paved the way to the birth of nationalistic rap. It's Showtime Singing Mo 'To: Elmo Magalona sings "Kaleidoscope World"
Aside from his music, Francis M's legacy to the entertainment industry is his family, including his son Elmo who's also making his own name on TV. In the mid-90s, then a six-month-old baby, the younger Magalona debuted in the Pinoy hip-hop/rock scene if only through a feature in an album cover of his dad. Five years later, he reappeared in the second installment of his father's album, Freeman.
"Ever since he was a little child, you could really see that he is a performer," Saab, one of his siblings, shared in a video. His mother and manager, Pia, can't help but be proud of his son who's willing to try anything and can do anything—singing, acting, rapping, and dancing. "Na-realize ko na kaya ko rin kumanta at sumayaw nung pinapanood ko 'yung live shows ni Papa," the young Magalona said. Unfortunately, it was only in 2010, a year after Francis M.'s death, when Elmo became a regular face on television—a milestone that his father missed. "Gusto ko lang sabihin kay Papa na I'm following my dreams and I hope that he supports me also and I hope na he's proud of what I've done." 1 | 2 | 3
