Little Big Shots: Kiddie Wonders in Acting-Part 1

Starting this Saturday, August 12, Filipino kids will make jaws drop with their amazing skills and talents in “Little Big Shots.” Every weekend, they will entertain us with performances we never thought kids are capable of, showing everyone that talent really knows no age. Before we get to know these young superstars, let us look back and list down some of the kiddie wonders who starred in their own primetime series and showed acting prowess even at a very young age, proving that they are also little big shots in their own right.

Zaijan Jaranilla


Zaijan captured the hearts of the Filipinos when he played the orphan Santino in the 2009 inspirational drama series, “May Bukas Pa.” Aside from appearing in numerous episodes of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and “Wansapanataym,” he also appeared in “Noah,” “Ikaw Ay Pag-ibig,” “Lorenzo’s Time,” and “Hawak-Kamay.” His award-winning film entitled “Hamog” will be screened this August in the first “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.”

Xyriel Manabat


After placing 3rd runner-up in “Star Circle Quest: Search for the Next Kiddie Idol,” Xyriel made a mark when she played the young Agua and Bendita in the 2010 fantasy-drama series, “Agua Bendita.” She also starred in her own series entitled “Momay.” However, her biggest break on primetime television was when she played the young counterpart of Ms. Coney Reyes as the demanding Anna Manalastas in the hit drama series, “100 Days to Heaven.” She recently appeared as the young Lily Cruz in the top-rating drama series, “Wildflower.”

Raikko Mateo


Raikko gained popularity when he played the lead role in the 2013 fantasy-drama series, “Honesto.” Aside from appearing in numerous episodes of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and “Wansapanataym,” he also appeared in “Walang Iwanan,” “Pasion de Amor,” “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” and “The Greatest Love.” He recently appeared in the film “Northern Lights: A Journey to Love” with Yen Santos and Piolo Pascual.
