Enrique Gil, McLisse, and more join 'National Breakfast Day' Celebration

Last Monday, March 13, McDonald’s brought back National Breakfast Day to hundreds of thousands of Filipinos nationwide and gave them the “best Monday ever”.

Now on its 5th year, National Breakfast Day gave away free breakfast sandwiches to customers in almost 450 participating McDonald’s branches all around the country from 6AM to 7AM. This year, aside from the iconic Egg McMuffin and Sausage McMuffin sandwiches, another breakfast offering was given– the new Burgerdesal, made with soft pandesal and a tasty burger patty with creamy, sweet and flavorful sauce.

To make this yearly event even more special, Enrique Gil, McCoy de Leon, Elisse Joson, JC Santos, Tommy Esguerra, Donny Pangilinan and other celebrities went to selected McDonald’s branches and celebrated National Breakfast Day as well.

Enrique, with Bianca Gonzalez, visited the Del Monte, Quezon City branch and entertained both the dine-in and drive-thru customers who lined up to join the celebration. Enrique shared “It’s crazy, crazy fun! I’m so alive, I’m so energetic because there’s so much people here. Everybody’s happy.”

Meanwhile, McCoy and Elisse joined the fun at the Commonwealth, Quezon City branch while JC went all the way to the Bajada, Davao branch. Tommy and Donny also spread morning happiness to Cebuanos! For Elisse, it was a very memorable and overwhelming experience to talk and interact with the loyal customers of McDonald’s. Some happy customers uploaded photos of the National Breakfast Day on social media.

Just like the past few years, McDonald’s also extended the National Breakfast Day celebration through Good Neighbor’s Day to groups of Early Risers, or those who are unable to enjoy a good breakfast due to their very busy early morning schedules. This year, the Early Risers that McDonald’s provided free breakfast sandwiches to were the teachers. Last March 15, Burgerdesal sandwiches were given to educators all over the country.

Teachers have become our second parents. They have taught us lessons both inside and outside the classroom. Enrique considers his P.E. teacher, Jun Alave, as the one teacher who had the greatest impact in his life. He added that even after he graduated, he would still see him because Mr. Alave also became the coach of his sister. Elisse shares that the principal of her school from kindergarten to high school, Teacher Vilma Salarda, taught her to be humble at grounded, while McCoy visited San Sebastian College and treated his teachers from elementary and high school some McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches. JC paid tribute to the theater group in Pampanga that mentored him as an actor.

This year’s celebration was made extra special not only because more people enjoyed the free breakfast sandwiches but also because of the extra special gestures extended to teachers and mentors all over the country. Hooray!
