#FreeToLove: Celebrity May-December Romances

Loving someone is not always a walk in the park. Even more so if you were to become part of an unconventional relationship--such as the (gasp!) usually frowned-upon May-December relationships. Luckily, there are those who are bold enough to show us that love knows no age. Check out these five celebrity couples with huge age gaps:

Coleen Garcia and Billy Crawford
Age gap: 10 Years

While sharing the stage as co-hosts, Billy and Coleen effortlessly clicked despite their ten-year age difference. Since then, the two shared a connection unlike any other, and are now on their way to celebrating their first wedding anniversary in April!

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez
Age gap: 15 Years

Who could forget the day Robin declared his love for Mariel on National TV? Mariel might have been 15 years his junior, but this oldskool yet over the top gesture swept her off her feet and left her head-over-heels in love with Robin from 2010 until today.

Chiz Escudero and Heart Evangelista
Age gap: 15 Years

Heart met Chiz at a time when she believed she wasn’t ready to date yet. Even so, the Senator did everything he could to prove that they can be more than just friends. One fairytale wedding and three anniversaries later, their romance shows no signs of slowing down.

Hayden Kho and Vicki Belo
Age gap: 23 years

With their 23-year age gap and 13-year long relationship, Hayden and Vicki continue to prove that true love can withstand the test of time. These two also taught us that no hurdle is ever too big as long as long as your relationship is founded in faith, love and respect.

We still have a long way to go before we could completely remove the stigma surrounding May-December romances. But thanks to these celebrity couples and Closeup’s #FreeToLove movement, we might just find the push we need to fight for our right to love and be loved. Closeup’s #FreetoLove campaign celebrates love, diversity and inclusivity, and champions mutual respect for all without fear of judgement and prejudice.
