‘Kilig’ felt too good and true as Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla engage viewers in a family fun ‘ka2waan’ to help raise funds for Typhoon Odette survivors. Plus, here’s the first reveal of the “2 Good 2 Be True” theme song and its singer-composer- even KathNiel was stunned and emotional!
Kapamilya Family Date Nights is part of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” donation drive that aims to provide food, clean water, as well as hygiene and home repair kits for families affected by Super Typhoon Odette.
While urging Kapamilyas to donate via live streaming app KUMU and other platforms, KathNiel entertained everyone by taking on different games and sharing exciting details about their upcoming series “2 Good 2 Be True.”
One challenge was called “True or Not True” wherein they’d simply confirm or debunk the given statements. Both agreed that he liked her first and that he’s sweeter. Kathryn shared that her boyfriend is affectionate both in touch and words. He taught her to be more outspoken. “Dati kasi nahihiya ako mag-express ng nararamdaman ko pero natutunan ko kay DJ na mas better ipaalam mo sa tao ‘yung nararamdaman mo,” she said, to which he added that tomorrow is never promised.
She also admitted that she’s less patient but she’s trying to improve. She’s also more ‘makulit’ or hyper. Both answered “not true” on whether or not Kathryn likes horror movies. She explained that she’d rather watch thriller, morbid films than one with ghosts. And she’s the less favorite fur parent between them.
The lovebirds had different answers on whether or not Daniel wakes up first. And it was the cutest bickering we’ve seen! Either way, they make sure to update each other in the morning.
In the “Would You Rather” Challenge, the couple talked about their ideal wedding – intimate for her and a grand ceremony for him. “Ilang taon na namin ‘yan pinagtatalunan kung ilan ang bisita,” Kath began the discussion. She’d go for intimate to make it possible to go around and talk with the guests, “Gusto ko ‘yung naging parte talaga ng buhay namin pareho, ‘yun lang.”
Daniel, on the other hand, considers that a lot of fans and friends waited for that moment. Besides, he thinks the newlyweds are the ones supposed to be entertained. For now, the King and Queen of Hearts leave it at that, certain that the right time to discuss this matter will come. “Someday may gagawin kami,” he promised.
We also learned that the sweethearts prefer “Mahal kita” to “I love you.” “Pareho lang naman pero ‘yung ‘I love you’ mas madaling sabihin. Parang iba lang ‘pag ‘mahal kita,’ mas mabigat. Siguro kasi Tagalog ‘yung lenggwahe,” said Daniel, the one who tells “Mahal kita” more often.
Another part of the episode was dedicated to Kathryn and Daniel’s upcoming romantic-comedy series “2 Good 2 Be True” where they play Alisson and Elorde, respectively. Answering questions from live viewers, they talked about their similarities with their characters, him being an auto enthusiast and her being honest and hardworking.
While it’s their first time working with some cast members like Matt Evans, Gillian Vicencio, newcomer Bianca De Vera, and veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, they feel like they’ve known everyone for long. “’Pag magkakasama kami dito, parang hindi kami mga bagong magkakakilala. Nag-stick agad ‘yung cast. Maswerte din kami dahil mahuhusay at mababait na tao ang nakakasama namin,” expressed Daniel.
Kathryn seconded, “Mas na-feel namin na perfect sila for the roles especially nung nabasa namin ‘yung script. Happy kami sa lahat ng characters. Kailangan nilang abangan especially the support cast, very good.”
They were instantly elated upon learning they’d be working with Ronaldo, whom they fondly call Tito Ron, and the first cast member revealed to them.
The reel and real-life couple considers the teleserye a reunion project with Director Mae Cruz-Alviar, whom they last teamed up with in the romcom movie “Can’t Help Fallin’ In Love” in 2017. They have nothing but good words for Direk Mae, calling her “super sweet” and “really one of the best.”
In the same segment, a fan asked who among the Nguya Squad members they’d choose to be part of “2 Good 2 Be True,” KathNiel picked Ria Atayde as it’d be refreshing to see the latter in a rom-com show after playing a serious role as a lawyer in Viral Scandal.
At some point, KathNiel was surprised when Moira Dela Torre and Jason Hernandez appeared in the episode. They were all the more stunned to know that Moira wrote and will be singing the 2G2BT theme song.
Moira shared that she received a copy of the synopsis when tapped to create the song but instead of just relying on the show itself, Moira and Jason also watched KathNiel’s anniversary documentary, making the piece “not just the story of 2 Good 2 Be True but of KathNiel.”
She also shared how it felt to write the 2G2BT OST of the much-anticipated KathNiel series, “It’s always home when it comes to DJ and Kath. My whole journey for the last 5 years Kath and DJ have always been part of it. It always feel like home ‘pag nandiyan sila.”
The Kapamilya love team was amazed, Kathryn even turned emotional, after hearing the show’s theme song live for the first time. He reacted, “Moi and Jason, salamat sa inyo. Na-speechless kami. Totoo, sobrang tagos sa amin ‘yun! Nung narinig namin, nabuhay, parang naging totoo bigla ‘yung serye namin. Nung naririnig ko, parang ‘Totoo na itong serye namin talaga.’ Binuo n’yo ‘yun, Jason at Moira, salamat. Ang laking bagay ng OST sa isang serye. You never fail, guys! Isa kayong alamat.”
The quartet went on to share that they’ve been exchanging voice notes for what they jestingly called their “secret album.” But, who knows? Maybe the “secret album” will become a real thing soon.
In the final game, KathNiel dared their co-actor Ronaldo Valdez to a “Millennial Slang 101” wherein the latter would guess the meaning of popular slang words. You’d be ‘shookt’ at how the veteran actor is so good at it! He knows that ‘flex’ means to show off, and that ‘lodi’ is the backward trend for ‘idol.’ He correctly defined glow-up as “aging gracefully and looking good,” and when asked what ‘chariz’ means, he answered, “Charot!”
The next word was ‘ghosting,’ which he read in a news report, “’Yung bigla na lang iniwan.” He even used it in a sentence, “My heart was broken because all of a sudden she ghosted me.” He also has an updated acronym lexicon, giving us the exact meaning of ‘G.O.A.T’ which is ‘greatest of all time.’
The funny part was when Daniel got so amazed to learn from his Tito Ron that ‘Marites’ was derived from the phrase, ‘Mare, ano’ng latest?’ Kathryn laughed because the movie icon is even more updated than Daniel. The game is just a little hint at the good vibes the trio will bring in their upcoming series.
