If Someone Would Play Duterte on Screen, Who Would It Be?

Now that the pre-election hoopla is coming to a close (almost!) and one of the five presidential candidates is more than six million votes away from the rest of the pack, it's safe to assume that the bet from Davao City is the next president of the Republic of the Philippines.

Rodrigo "Rody" Roa Duterte, nicknamed Digong, has received media attention—even international ones—because of his ironclad leadership, vulgarity, and machismo. He is dubbed as "The Punisher" and "Dirty Harry of Davao" and is quoted time and again for saying that he can put an end to crimes in three to six months. His interesting personality and life story could easily be a character in an action movie or even a whole episode in the Philippines' longest running drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya. Of course, we took the liberty of asking our avid viewers who could play the role should his life story be featured on screen and these are the top five answers.

1) Robin Padilla

The action star earned the top spot after getting a number of mentions in just 24 hours of the poll. He is well known for his gangster roles and often dubbed as the "Bad Boy" of Philippine cinema. One netizen even mentioned that his 'kaastigan' sits well with the personality of Duterte.
