According to Maja and Enrique, music has helped them to become unstoppable in the gym. Below, they provide tips in creating your own workout playlist.

Maja:

• Tip 1: Stick to your favorites

But do try to mix it up from time to time to break the monotony. Ako, I usually go for what’s uso, but I also include some of my older faves.

• Tip 2: Decide if your playlist would be on shuffle play or if you’d like to sequence the songs.

Sequencing can be good if you want to match certain tracks with particular portions of your routine (ex. ‘pag intense ang cardio, dapat intense din ang song!). Pressing shuffle may be the way to go if you want to have less structure and a bit of randomness in your playlist.

• Tip 3: Don’t forget to include more mellow, down-tempo songs in your playlist

• Tip 1: Different strokes for different folks

In my experience, I find up-tempo and hard-hitting songs to be the most effective in giving me a big boost.

• Tip 2: If you’ll be working out for an hour, make sure that your playlist can last as long.

You won’t want the same songs to just repeat over and over.

• Tip 3: The lyrics can be a factor, too.

In the song Stronger, when you hear the lyrics about what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger, you feel empowered by such words.
