K-pop continues to dominate the airwaves and the music scene all over the world. South Korea’s unique and electrifying brand of music has truly captured the hearts of many fans worldwide, most especially here in the Philippines. On October 26, the Manila leg of GOT7’s “Keep Spinning 2019 World Tour” at the Mall of Asia Arena was a phenomenal success – a testament that the K-pop community here in the Philippines is indeed massive.
It has been three years since GOT7 stepped on Philippine soil before they brought their tour in the country last Saturday. Ahgases (GOT7’s fans) were beyond elated. This was all made possible by PULP Live in partnership with Globe, which continues to bring the K-pop community closer to their idols and paves the way for fans to see their favorite Korean artists on live stage.
To amplify the GOT7 experience even more, Globe provided fans interactive booths dubbed as the “K-mmunity PH studios” in the concert venue. Ahgases got the chance to sing, dance, record and take photos to their hearts’ content in the said booths.
In the “Chant Studio,” Ahgases got to sing their favorite GOT7 tunes. Meanwhile, in the “Dance Studio,” fans were able to groove and move along with the GOT7 members dancing on the screen. In the “Record Studio,” fans played a digital tap game featuring the group’s popular songs. The goal of the game was to complete the song they picked. After singing, dancing and playing, Ahgases got to strike a pose with the life-size images of their septet in the “Idol Studio.”
Aside from the interactive booths, Globe also put up a “K-mmunity PH Store” offering exclusive GOT7 merchandise like the official light stick and eclipse sun catcher, to provide fans a piece of memory of the concert that they would bring with them for a lifetime.
The highlight of the entire experience was of course, the concert itself. Thousands of fans screamed their hearts out the moment GOT7 stepped on the stage. Waving their glowing light sticks while chanting the group’s name was a magical moment. As fans heard the first beat of GOT7’s first song, the three years of waiting was indeed worth it for everyone at the concert venue.
The septet performed their well-loved song like “Eclipse,” “Never Ever,” “Just Right,” among others. Members JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom gave the performances of their lives and wowed every fan at the arena. The showmanship, execution and energy was totally out of this world.
GOT7 also made time to interact with the Ahgases. The group shared random trivia about the tour. Manila was the last leg of their “Keep Spinning Tour” so it was very special according to them.
To express their gratitude to their idols, Ahgases prepared a tribute video for GOT7, much to the surprise of the group. The members could not help but be emotional after watching the video, which only proves that more than the music, the K-pop community is indeed a family.
"We're finally back here. We're sorry that it took us three years to come back. We're not sure if it's gonna take another three years but we will come back," an emotional Mark said.
Overall, GOT7's “Keep Spinning Tour” in Manila was a celebration of music and a united community of fans. Spearheaded by Globe, the concert is a testament to the colorful and passionate love of the Filipinos for GOT7 and for K-pop music.
Most recently, Globe has brought massive K-Pop acts like TWICE, BLACKPINK, EXO, Wanna One, and Super Junior to the country to satiate the K-Pop cravings of Filipino fans. With more exciting artists like GOT7 lined up, Filipino fans are sure to experience world-class music entertainment—a commitment that Globe will continue to strengthen for years to come.
