Some may see his march towards the podium of the glittering launch of his comebacking teleserye on Monday, April 23 surprising, but for JM de Guzman it is more than just being ecstatic.
It was a validation of his chosen path towards recovery.
While it surely isn’t a secret how troublesome and painstaking that journey was, but for the lead star of Precious Hearts Romances Presents Araw Gabi, the fight goes on.
I continue] fighting,” JM tells ABS-CBN.com Entertainment in an interview.
Now given another chance to hog the limelight, JM is definitely not letting it slip away. He would only dream big about his future in the industry.
Like playing an “offbeat” role that will surely become memorable.
Playing the role of Adrian on the story adapted from the late Martha Cecilia’s Precious Hearts Romances bestseller “El Paraiso” has been an immense restart for a renewed life.
In fact, he says he sees a lot about Adrian that is quite relatable. “Marami.
Sobra siyang persistent na mahanap ang truth about himself and find love again.”
And this is quite important for JM as this would surely help him perform his best, not only as an actor whom we all admired since breaking out in Angelito: Ang Batang Ama, but also as an individual.
It also helps that the director of Araw Gabi, Theodore Boborol, is quite familiar to him.
And that Barbie Imperial is a leading lady he Is comfortable working with.
“Actually no’ng tinanong din po ako, I was really rooting for her so masaya po talaga ako na siya ang pinili,” JM revealed.
In getting ready for his comeback role, JM also revealed how he is deeply involved with how the character develops onscreen.
“Nagme-meet kami kasama ‘yung writers, kinakausap namin sila para mas maging solid ‘yung knowledge namin about sa background ng character, tapos workshops, [talking with] direk din,” he said.
This proves that JM himself in not leaving any stone unturned just to make his performance riveting and the whole teleserye a huge success. JM is also focusing on other opportunities that beckon, including an upcoming film under Star Cinema and a forthcoming music album he enthusiastically divulges.
Yes, how he appears at present may be unimaginable for some, but for JM it’s more than rolling with the punches and overcoming odds.
It’s his destiny.
