New teleserye means new theme song to get LSS with over and over again.
As ABS-CBN finally launched its newest drama offering this 2020 – Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin – through Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live last August 17, we also found ourselves fascinated with the theme song JRB Creatives, the production unit behind it, has chosen for this equally-enthralling masterpiece.
Sang by the iconic OPM band Aegis, the song, which is also entitled “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin”, carries lyrics that invoke revenge and betrayal, making it a truly suitable for the primetime series that also invokes the same theme.
However, did you know that it was not a well-known lyricist or an esteemed musician who’s behind this promising composition? Its music video, which was released over the weekend, featured some of the scenes we’ve already seen or about to see in the coming episodes. Many of us were certainly surprised to see the name of veteran broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano alongside ABS-CBN Music Creative Director Jonathan Manalo as the brains behind this fierce and heart-rending song on the opening credits.
In an Instagram post, the TV Patrol news anchor shared a photo of Aegis’ recording session and wrote on the caption “Marami ang nagulat to see my name sa credits. Don’t worry ako rin nagulat!”
From telling different stories of real people through the news and current affairs programs or segments that she hosts, Bernadette couldn’t hide her excitement as she’s able to tell a story in a poetic way and had Aegis interpret it for her.
She also credited Jonathan for guiding her as she revealed originally writing the lyrics last March after a newscast of TV Patrol. She also thanked veteran composer and her “ninong” Louie Ocampo for “encouraging me to go follow music in me” and writer and concert director Freddie Santos who, according to her, “understood the deepest desire in me to write.”
