The old aphorism “blood is thicker than water” was proven true when Ellice (Iza Calzado) suddenly threw away the familial, motherly affection she received from Lucing (Maricel Soriano) since she was little, drawn to the lies and drama of her biological mom, Belen (Rita Avila). In this Kapamilya Toplist, we rounded up the scenes showing Ellice taking Belen’s side in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.
Ellice grew up under the care of her father, Jorge (Lito Pimentel), without even knowing the real reason behind Belen’s disappearance. But thanks to the devoted, kind-hearted Lucing, she never lacked motherly care and sacrifices. There are even days when Lucing showed love to Ellice more than her own daughter, Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria), inflaming the rivalry between the erstwhile best friends.
In a shocking plot twist, Belen suddenly resurfaced and begged for a second shot at being a mother to Ellice. The reasons were hazy and her appearance was so surprising. But, one thing is clear: Belen is determined to drive Lucing away to get all of Ellice’s attention.
The devious schemes started to play when Belen feigned an accident and pinned the blame on Lucing following their intense word war. She pretended to fall from the stairs, making Lucing appear guilty of pushing her down. At that moment, Ellice believed her mother’s accusations against Lucing.
In the next scene, Ellice was caught in the middle of the accused and the “victim.” Lucing tried to explain her side but Belen was quick to put her drama on show. Surprisingly, Ellice took her mother’s side and she even asked Lucing to leave the room instead.
It only took that single incident, and Belen’s manipulative strategies, to destroy Ellice and Lucing’s mother-daughter relationship. Before leaving the Villarosa abode, Lucing tried to explain why she kept some things about Belen a secret, saying it was for her own good and her father’s request. But no amount of explanation can change a mind that’s been cleverly manipulated. Instead of asking Lucing to stay, like what she’d normally do, Ellice just let the old woman leave.
Ellice dealt with losses and gains. She let go of Lucing and embraced Belen’s presence in her life once again, much to Gabriel (Sam Milby)’s disappointment. He would try to enlighten her, pointing out that Lucing has been devoted to them through the years unlike Belen who just showed up from nowhere. Ellice still won’t listen.
The lies and drama completely swallowed Ellice’s sympathy for her Nanay Lucing, so when she found out the latter’s detainment, all she did was go along with Belen’s decisions.
Ellice gained an ally at the expense of the family she tried hard to built. Will this be the start of her downfall and Marissa’s victory?
