True love is not limited to circumstances. And no matter how much you try to resist, real emotions show up especially when you’re around the person you love. In this Kapamilya Toplist from Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, we rounded up the scenes of Jake (Grae Fernandez) showing how much he still cares for Hope (Kira Balinger) despite the conflict, anger, sham, and resistance.
Who would ever forget the day when Jake met the pretty and feisty Hope? Definitely not him! It may not be a case of love at first sight but the series of kismet-ushered encounters would make him fall for her.
However, just as when he realized he found the perfect girl to love, a truth bomb has been dropped following Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria)’s explosive comeback. His heart broke into pieces while listening to Hope vent out her pain and frustrations over her dad, Gabriel (Sam Milby)’s betrayal and the child he shares with Marissa. The kind-hearted Jake was eaten with guilt, knowing he would soon emerge as Hope’s half-brother.
He felt her pain, so he thought of telling her the truth. Jake found himself torn between his feelings for Hope and his loyalty towards Marissa. It turns out the latter’s manipulation and guilt-tripping tactics will destroy his courage.
The cracks finally blew up when Jake showed up at the Villarosa Residence, introducing himself as Jacob, Gabriel’s son, just as how Marissa orchestrated the scheme. He knew the betrayal and drama would take a toll on Hope but he is just as helpless, also caught up in a war he has nothing to do with.
Jake tried hard to win Hope’s forgiveness. He wanted to at least revive their friendship if she didn’t want to treat him as a brother. Coincidentally, they were paired for a school project. He took advantage of the partnership to get closer to her again but all he got is her resentment. She said he can never wash away the guilt just by taking all the responsibility in that project.
In a scene, Jake gets honest about his wish to fix their relationship as siblings. She didn’t like the idea. He still continued to look after her, seeing how the family problem is starting to have an effect on her studies.
Jake was there when Hope almost fell victim to a sexual assault after drinking with RJ (Karl Gabriel) in a bar. He swiftly came to her rescue when she passed out. A similar incident happened again, this time, in RJ’s house. Upon learning that Hope has been missing, Jake stormed to RJ’s place and saved her from another trouble.
Add to this list the scene where Jake secretly did Hope’s homework and tuck the papers inside her locker, knowing she was too drunk to remember, much less accomplish the requirement.
