Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin Season 2 promises compelling tale, superb acting, exciting new cast

Acclaimed and widely followed teleserye Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin is finally set to serve its second season with more intense clashes and disputes, especially between Ellice (Iza Calzado) and Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria). If Ellice fought for what was rightfully hers amidst Marissa’s aggression in the first season, we will get to see a compelling plot twist in the next chapter that would turn their story on its head.

The show’s cast members and creative team gave an exciting glimpse of what to expect in the forthcoming Book 2 of Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin in a virtual media conference on Friday, November 6.

Above all, it will continue to showcase the impeccable acting prowess of all cast members, who have all invested so much of themselves into their characters. Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin directors FM Reyes and Avel Sunpongco shared the heartfelt dedication and exceptional craft the cast showed.

While we will continue to witness their characters’ seemingly never-ending tussles in the upcoming new season, Jodi and fellow main star Iza Calzado reflected on what Ellice and Marissa should have done to save their close friendship, which they savored since they were kids. They shared that in real life, they still have intimate ties with their childhood friends.

Jodi said that love, trust, respect, and understanding make a long-lasting friendship. She added that there’s still a chance for Marissa and Ellice to restore their friendship only if they will choose to forgive each other. However, she admitted it might take them a long time before they can trust each other again.

For her part, Iza agreed with Jodi on how Ellice and Marissa could have handled their friendship and added that both should have communicated with each other more properly so they could understand one another.

The award-winning actresses were then hypothetically asked to take the opposite side and defend their rival character. When Iza tried to defend Marissa, she said that her revengeful actions can be justified because those are stemmed from the pain that she feels because of being left by her best friend during the most difficult time in her life.

Meanwhile, when Jodi tried to be on the side of Ellice, she said that it wasn’t her fault if Victor Montelibano (Albie Casino) died because clearly, it was an accident. Besides, Ellice just defended herself from Victor who was about to rape her. Jodi added the fact that Marissa did her wrong in so many aspects, which is enough for Ellice to harbor her intense grudge towards her. And, when Maricel was asked on whose side was she, the Diamond Star said it’s very hard to decide because her character as the mother figure of both Marissa and Ellice, she can’t just choose one over the other.

Maricel would then join new cast member Rita Avila, who will appear on the show as Ellice’s mother Belen, in revealing their secrets in doing effective catfight scenes. Both industry luminaries said that the trust towards the director and the actor they will perform the intense scene with are important factors in executing them perfectly.

Head writer Keiko Aquino also spoke in the media conference saying Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin would not only apply to Ellice and Marissa in the second season, but to all characters in the story as they would encounter similar struggles and skirmishes.

This includes new characters Hope and Jacob, half-siblings to be portrayed by Kira Balinger and Grae Fernandez. Hope is Ellice’s daughter while Jacob is Marissa’s son. This marks both artists’ breakthrough appearance in a major teleserye as they are expected to give out remarkable dramatic performances. Kira and Grae are grateful to be part of the second season’s cast. Getting to work with respected artists in the industry, Grae said, made him step up and work better to show respect for the veteran actors.

Aside from Rita, Kira, and Grae, Joseph Marco will also join the drama’s second book as Avel Mansueto, Marissa’s bodyguard who is seen to go beyond his professional duties.

Don’t miss the upcoming second season of Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin which is aired weeknights after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z Channel 11.
