Kapamilya Spotlight: Iza Calzado’s fascinating, extraordinary Kapamilya teleserye appearances

Aside from her mesmerizing beauty, impressive wit and eloquence, and incredible heart of gold, another thing that we adore about Iza Calzado is her award-winning dramatic portrayals, which we’re about to see in the much-awaited 2020 Kapamilya teleserye Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin.

But before she astounds us with her another sure-fire performance as the lead protagonist Ellice, let’s revisit her spectacular and remarkable dramatic portrayals in her past eight years as a Kapamillya actress via this Kapamilya Spotlight video.

Her inaugural acting appearance as a Kapamilya in 2012 was in the “Cross-stitch” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya, wherein she got paired with Zanjoe Marudo as she portrayed the role of Liza, a woman who agreed to get married with her friend’s husband as a way of fulfilling her death wish.

The 38-year-old decorated actress went on to appear in another episode of the weekly drama anthology titled “Komiks”, before scoring a lead role in the romance drama series Kahit Puso’y Masugatan alongside Gabby Concepcion, Andi Eigenmann, and Jake Cuenca. She depicted Andrea San Jose-De Guzman, a determined young woman who figured in a complicated love affair after tying the knot with her ex-boyfriend’s father.

In 2013, she once again lent her acting prowess for the “Ilog” episode of MMK, rending our hearts as a single mom named Rowena who fell in love with her cousin and got criticized by the people around them because of how their relationship is deemed as a mortal sin. She was then tapped to have a special participation in the melodrama series Muling Buksan Ang Puso as the younger counterpart of Pilar Pilapil’s character.

A year after, Iza starred in the teleserye Hawak Kamay opposite Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual, portraying the role of strict young lawyer Atty. Bianca Magpantay-Agustin. In 2015, she also appeared in a few episodes of the long-running action drama FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as the tough and sophisticated Col. Olivia Buenaventura.

In 2017, she got cast in the primetime series A Love To Last as Grace Silverio-Noble, the ex-wife who yearned to rekindle her romance with Ian Veneracion’s character Anton to no avail. After a year, she was among the main actors of the romance drama Ngayon At Kailanman, portraying the role of Rebecca Marquez-Young, the long-lost biological mom of Julia Barretto’s character Eva Mapendo.

And starting this August 17, we’re going to Iza her in the shoes of Ellice Ceñidoza-Villarosa, a woman who will be betrayed by her husband Gabriel (Sam Milby) and estranged best friend Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria), in the highly anticipated series Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin that you may watch on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live!
