On Friday, August 14, ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel's Kapamilya Confessions (Quarantine Edition) recently had the three female leads of the upcoming drama series--Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin--Jodi Sta. Maria, Iza Calzado, and Maricel Soriano as guests.
In their respective abodes, the three actresses took time to reach out to their fans and the Kapamilya viewers who are thrilled to see the first-ever digital series, to premiere on Monday, August 17 on the Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
Maricel, who portrayed both protagonist-antagonist-kind-of-character in the 1984 film “Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit,” will see similar characters in two best friends, who are destroyed by mortal sin and become bitter rivals.
Iza and Jodi are Ellice Ceñidoza-Villarosa and Marissa Pineda, respectively, and are both inseparable. One night, a gruesome crime changes their destinies. Ellice accidentally kills the son of a powerful congressman. Marissa, on the other hand, takes the blame for her best friend’s crime in exchange for 10 million pesos.
Fast forward, when Ellice came back to the country, to start anew with her husband Gabriel (Sam Milby), Marissa resurfaced and vowed to take everything from Ellice, including Gabriel, and make her former best friend suffer just like she did in prison.
The three actresses talked about their respective characters and what lessons the viewers could take from the story of the three female leads.
Her former character as Amor Powers in Pangako Sa 'Yo, Jodi stressed that Marissa (in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin) is a far cry.
“Unlike Amor Powers, si Marissa naghihiganti dahil nagmamahal siya.”
On the other hand, Iza said that the series is rooted in love. Whatever bad decisions their characters had--it still is coming from the space of love.
"The one lesson the viewers can get is to learn how to forgive. Forgiving is not for the person who wronged them--but it is for their peace of mind."
The Diamond Star, who plays the role of Luciana 'Lucing' Pineda, Marissa's mother. She treats Ellice as her daughter, too. She is in between the two women. For her, not all good intentions can bring good resolutions.
"Pilit niyang pinagtatakpan ang dalawang babae. Dapat sana maging open lang."
For the three women, they think they share certain commonalities. Working together has brought them to be closer to each other.
Jodi saw in each of her co-stars the love for their craft. Also, there was respect toward one another as human beings and as professionals.
Iza supports Jodi's observation by sharing what kind of set they have while taping the drama series--only good vibes in the set. Since they were in a locked-in shoot--they treat each other as family.
But Maricel assured one thing that they respect even the production crew, "Walang plastikan at pa-istaran."
Both Jodi and Iza are thrilled and honored to be working with the Diamond Star.
To Jodi, it is an answered prayer. After five years, God granted her heart's desire to one day work with Maricel. After their brief encounter at FAMAS, now they're in one series.
Iza admitted that she's fangirling. She couldn't believe that she's watching Maricel Soriano while acting in the flesh. She's in awe and it's a dream come true for her.
Sam Milby, Cheska Iñigo, Michelle Vito, Paulo Angeles, Grae Fernandez, Kira Balinger, Lito Pimentel, Alvin Anson, Loren Burgos, Nico Antonio, Jef Gaitan, Jimmy Marquez, and Brenda Mage are also in the cast. The story is written by Keiko Aquino and directed by FM Reyes and Avel Sunpongco.
Watch the pilot episode of Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin on Monday, August 17, after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on the Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
