Here’s a round-up of the most striking lines from Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin Week 16

The ball of vengeance got rolling in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin. In last week’s episodes, we witnessed how Marissa (Jodi Sta. Maria) managed to come out even stronger after rising from the ashes and how her comeback is shaking up Ellice (Iza Calzado)’s empire and family once again. On the other side of the rivalry are Jake (Grae Fernandez) and Hope (Kira Balinger), painfully torn between love and the ugly truth meant to tear them apart.

A series of flashback scenes unveiled Marissa’s life in the past 17 years. She worked as a staff in a jewelry store in Indonesia, winning her employer’s trust through her good character. On her boss’ death bed, Marissa, a legally adopted Zulyani, received an inheritance that will change the course of her life, and vengeance.

Ellice keeps her head held high, with no signs of raising her white flag. But every fighter has a weakness – family and Hope are hers. The queen of Cenidoza Pearls will never back out from any game and the war will even get more intense once the enemy touches the union she’s trying hard to rebuild.   “And if she comes after my family, ako mismo ang papatay sa kanya,” declared Ellice while thinking of Marissa’s possible course of actions.

Snakes are coming out of their hiding places. There was Caesar (Simon Ibarra) sending Marissa a venomous surprise but only to end up outsmarted when she warned him about his family’s safety, a tactic she learned from Adelina (Carla Martinez) who remains devoted to her.

Marissa, the “snake” in Ellice’s life, then demanded a meeting with Gabriel (Sam Milby). She was surprised yet unbothered by his cold treatment. Taking advantage of the past to rekindle their feelings, she told him, “Parang wala tayong pinagsamahan. Once upon a time, you asked me to marry you.”

After 17 years, it turns out that Marissa still plays the game using the same old strategy – emotional blackmail. She said Gabriel will only get to see their son, Jacob, if he would agree to build a family with her. But she got an answer that triggered all the anger and pain. “Marissa, I already have a family. ‘Yung responsibilidad ko, kay Jacob at hindi sa’yo,” Gabriel said.

The legal wife, on the other hand, is determined to fight for her territory. “She started a war. I intend to finish it,” declared Ellice.

As the rivalry heats up, we were treated to yet another intense exchange of threats, insults, and innuendos between the best friends turned enemies.

In any war of love and revenge, innocent hearts fall as victims. Hope was pushed into an emotional torture upon learning that her dad had an affair and a child with another woman.

In her pain, she had her Lola Lucing (Maricel Soriano) and Jake to somehow make her feel better. When she could no longer bear the hurt, Hope let her guards down and allowed Jake to witness her vulnerability. She cried her heart out while opening up about her filial problems.

Jake is just as broken everytime he sees Hope’s suffering. “Nahihirapan ako tuwing nakikita kitang nasasaktan, Hope. Naaawa ako sa’yo. Ayaw kong lokohin ka,” he talked to himself that night.

Marissa’s next schemes target the Cenidoza matriarch and heiress. She allegedly spread nasty rumors about Ellice’s company. Then, she intentionally brought up gossips about Jake and his ex-girlfriend to hurt Hope’s feelings. “Hindi mo kayang saktan si Hope. I’m sorry, anak, ako na lang ang gagawa para sa’yo,” she thought.

The plan was a success, evident at Hope’s reaction. “Friends don’t keep secrets,” she told Jake.

But secrets are just waiting in the dark ready to get exposed any time. How will the next revelations and schemes of vengeance affect Jake and Hope’s friendship?
