After almost three years on air, you have probably wondered at one point, “what’s next?”
Luckily, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is never short on creative ideas that will continue to tell relevant stories to Filipinos. In fact, while we have seen a number of cast members leave the show, we’re also frequently introduced to new ones.
One of the actors who has recently joined the fray is Joross Gamboa as Tanggol. Contrary to what his name means which is to defend, he’s instead the villain who has butted heads with Cardo (Coco Martin), both figuratively and literally. And based on the actor’s favorite scenes, it seems he enjoys playing the antagonist.
The first fight
As Cardo continued to try and win Alyana’s (Yassi Pressman) heart, the two shared a slow dance at the town’s party. Who would dare interrupt such an intimate moment? Cue Tanggol’s entrance. He decides to cut in and ask Alyana to dance.
Cardo agreed to step aside, but it didn’t take long before he noticed how inappropriate Tanggol was touching Alyana. In just a few seconds, the fun event had turned into quiet the spectacle that left Tanggol a bloodied mess.
The second fight
Of course, a bad guy like Tanggol wouldn’t let Cardo off the hook so easily. The second round of their brawl took place at the town’s market. Tanggol has been in a sour mood since being beaten by Cardo. So, the moment he saw his adversary, the fight was inevitable.
Cardo, Alyana and their friends’ otherwise mundane trip to the market took its scary turn. Our lead star hoped a conversation would smooth out their issues, but Tanggol preferred to let his fists do the talking. Unfortunately, Cardo was the one left defeated this time.
The bad blood
These fights, however, weren’t the only intense encounters between the two alpha males. You could say that a storm was already brewing from the beginning. There are many instances when Tanggol and his gang are seen drinking alcohol which provide many opportunities for a fight scene, but instead leave the audience hanging.
Tanggol once invited Cardo and his group for a drink to get to know this man from Manila. You could cut the tension with a butter knife. And if looks could kill, the series would be over by now with the number of daggers Tanggol was shooting in Cardo’s direction. Which is why fans can’t wait to see the next time they go head to head. And it’s their small town, it’s not unlikely they’ll bump into each other again.
