Sharon Cuneta FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

The long is indeed finally over as avid fans of the one and only Megastar Sharon Cuneta will get to see her in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano!

And a day after her character Aurora was introduced through the teaser dropped last November 24, the actress launched a vlog on her YouTube channel wherein she gave us a glimpse of what happened during the welcome bash and media conference held early this month to officially announce her participation on the long-running action-drama series.

She was greeted by the ABS-CBN bosses Cory V. Vidanes (Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast), Laurenti Dyogi (Head of TV Production), and Deo Endrinal (Dreamscape Entertainment Unit Head), as well as by FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano lead star and director Coco Martin, who handed her a bouquet of flowers and escorted her inside the company establishment.

Sharon apparently couldn’t hide her excitement to be able to work and act again as she talked to Coco while their photos alongside the bosses were taken at the lobby.

Even though she would miss her beloved family so much as she has to stay in Ilocos for a few weeks for the lock-in taping, she’s happy that everyone in their household are excited as she takes on this new endeavor.

“I’m so very honored, grateful, excited, touched, and overwhelmed. I’m so thankful to Coco Martin for losing sleep one night when my name suddenly came to him, ‘di siya makatulog and he waited for sunrise, [until] around seven in the morning to call Tita Cory Vidanes, our boss here in ABS-CBN, to tell her that he had an idea and that did she think that I would be willing to guest in Ang Probinsyano,” she recalled.

Then she went on to recount how Cory reached out to her to offer this project and tell her that Coco wanted to pitch the story of the character he’s eyeing for her to portray. They had a virtual meeting as soon she arrived back here in Manila and she didn’t hesitate to accept it since it had been her dream to be part of it.

We also saw them bumped into Maymay Entrata in one of the hallways, who was obviously starstruck upon the sight of them, as they walked going to a studio where the mediacon was held and the other cast members were waiting.

The Megastar went on to blab how she’d been looking forward on being part of this project that carries the name of the late icon Fernando Poe Jr., to whom he used to work with in two films in the 90s. She also recalled telling Coco about it during the ABS-CBN Christmas Special in 2019 and that he promised her that they’re going to do a movie together.

As soon as they arrived at the venue, she was warmly and cheerily welcomed by the other cast, which include Rosanna Roces, Rowell Santiago, John Estrada, and Julia Montes, and directors Malu Sevilla, Albert Langitan, and John Prats.

“I’m very excited to be part of this. Maraming salamat Coco for thinking of me. I thank God dahil ginising ka niya isang madaling araw at sinabi niya ‘Sharon, Sharon, Sharon’, kaya nandito na ako. Hindi ako magdadalawang isip na makatrabaho kayo. Salamat sa inyo,” the 55-year-old actress-singer stated during the presscon.

She also gave us behind-the-scene clips of her guesting in ASAP Natin ‘To on that same day, wherein she sang the official soundtracks of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano through the years, alongside Gary Valenciano, Erik Santos, Jed Madela, and Ogie Alcasid.

Nakatrabaho ko na rin lahat ng action stars na malalaki sa industriya, si Coco na lang natitira na hindi ko nakakatrabaho and I’m so looking forward to work with him and give this to my Sharonians because ang tagal din nilang naghintay,” she said while filming some portions of her vlog at a dressing room.

She further enthused, “Siguro ‘yong drama at action na hindi ko nagawa nang matagal pero nagawa ko sa ibang movies, may chance ako ngayon kaya excited ako! Gusto kong mag-action-action ulit so ’m very happy, abangan n’yo po ‘yan. Matagal-tagal po ang character ko rito kaya huwag po kayong mag-alala.”
