Remember when these young stars appeared in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano?

Dubbed as the most star-studded primetime series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been a visual feast thanks to its lineup of actors playing interesting characters. In this edition of Kapamilya Toplist, we’re putting the spotlight on the young stars who lent their acting talent to the longest-running teleserye.

Nash Aguas carried the most crucial task among them by playing the teenage Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin). As the main hero’s younger counterpart, Nash took on sequences that required heavy drama and action. He even shared gun handling scenes with Charo Santos playing Ramona, the patriotic leader who adopted and trained Cardo to fight.

The teleserye reunited Nash with former loveteam partner Sharlene San Pedro as young Glen (Maja Salvador). NashLene sent their fans on a sweet, nostalgic trip by portraying the childhood friends who’d both become cops as adults.

A much younger Belle Mariano showcased her potential as a drama actress by joining the powerhouse Tuazon family, the series’ original villains portrayed by seasoned thespians Albert Martinez, Agot Isidro, and Arjo Atayde, with Philippine showbiz legend Eddie Garcia. In the story, Belle’s Rachel Tuazon is the only guiltless family member, but later on, died in an ambush. Although the youngest, Belle was able to share big acting moments with the Tuazons.

Lola Flora (Susan Roces) and Don Emilio (Eddie Garcia)’s backstory was sketched by Jane Oineza and JC Santos. In a vintage setting, the two crossed paths when Emilio picked up Flora’s lost wallet, but she didn’t like his demeanor from the beginning. Years later, as we all know, their families will become mortal enemies.

Maris Racal’s character as Rona was pivotal in the first season’s plot twist. She was the daughter whose sickness, and loving, innocent ways, bothered the conscience of her corrupt father Colonel Roy Carreon (Art Acuna), who was initially a Tuazon crony. Rona inspired Roy to confess the Tuazons’ evil deeds, resulting in controversies and investigations.

Zaijian Jaranilla had a brief appearance as Cocoy, one of the adorable kids from Cardo’s hometown. Brace Arquiza snatched the role of Ryan, brother of Bela Padilla’s Carmen. As a member of the Guzman clan, Ryan also had a close relationship with Lola Flora’s side of the family.

Gray Fernandez was at par with Paulo Avelino’s acting talent, playing the latter’s young counterpart as Eric. In the story, their character was an orphan who became a serial killer as an adult.

Former loveteam Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona had special roles as Denise and Andrew, respectively, for the story arc revolving around drug crimes. The characters kept their relationship a secret at first since Andrew hides his work as a drug seller for Jonas (Jake Cuenca).

Sue Ramirez added funny ‘hirits’ as Marie, the happy-go-lucky granddaughter of an old couple who harbored the Vendetta. Joining her in that small coastal community was Marlo Mortel as her persistent suitor Noel.

The ‘kilig’ pair of McCoy de Leon as JP and Elisse Joson as Lorraine played meaty roles as members of Cardo’s extended family. He is Alyana (Yassi Pressman)’s brother while she is Jerome (John Prats)’s niece. Aside from their thrilling scenes, specifically when Lorraine got abducted, the duo also added an air of romance to the action-packed series. It’s the first teleserye to showcase McLisse’s organic chemistry.

Seth Fedelin joined the first season filmed during the pandemic. His character as Macoy added fresh energy in Cardo and the Agilas’ stay in Batangas, specifically at Lito (Richard Gutierrez)’s ranch. Macoy was a stable boy inspired by Cardo to become a cop someday.

Some of these young stars played baddies. Michelle Vito as Janice was Lorraine’s friend who tried to convince her to use drugs. Similarly, John Manalo as Pitoy was one of the right-hand guys of drug dealer Bolit (Victor Silayan) in the fictitious barangay called Sapang Bato.

Meanwhile, others have done police work in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. When Cardo returned to his mission, this time as the leader of the newly assembled Task Force Agila, he met new colleagues including P/Lt. Marielle Lazcano (Isabelle de Leon) and P.Lt. Camille Villaluna (Barbie Imperial), both under the command of Major Roxanne Opena (Shaina Magdayao).

Every hero had to start from somewhere. In the case of our new “Darna” Jane De Leon, she was first a Black Ops officer. She portrayed Lia Mante, who was initially an enemy but harbored the Agilas later on. With no less than the Primetime King as her on-screen partner, Jane showcased her action-drama credibility with heart-stopping fight scenes and stunts.

With her in the Black Ops was Vance Larena as Ivan, the good-hearted officer who had special feelings for Lia. Also donning the Black Ops uniform are Paulo Angeles as Jim and Enzo Pineda as Alvin. Jimboy Martin as Jeremy and Jerome Ponce as Adrian were two of the latest recruits; both of them connived with Captain de Vela (Geoff Eigenmann) and Lily (Lorna Tolentino), and died in last week’s encounter with Task Force Agila.
