Anyone can talk about passion, commitment, love and service but Aya Fernandez makes every word sound so sincere. She expressed gratitude for her nonstop work amid the pandemic, giving her best in every portrayal to honor the 11, 000 retrenched employees affected by the ABS-CBN shutdown.
“Alam kong madrama pero legit talaga, as in, doon naka-dedicate ‘yung bawat pagluha ko at pagtawa,” she said in this episode of Kapamilya Chat. Breaking off the serious mood, Aya would exude charming exuberance while talking about her stint as Doctor Audrey Mante in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Audrey, a resident surgeon, is the elder sister of Jane De Leon’s Captain Lia Mante. And just like Aya, Audrey is also an NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth) that’s why she easily felt something special for Cardo. The actress and her onscreen counterpart are both graduates of University of the Philippines.
In Coco’s words, Audrey is reminiscent of Yassi Pressman’s Alyana. “Nung una kong na-meet si Coco, ‘yun ‘yung una niyang brief sa akin tungkol sa character ni Audrey. Kasi kay Lia para silang tubig at langis. Pero kay Audrey, para niyang naaalala si Alyana kay Audrey, napaka-hopeful, napakaliwanag ng personality.”
But unlike her character, Aya has a boring romantic life, and flirting is a game she never learned. “Si Doc Audrey Mante, napagsasabay niya ang trabaho at landi, so sana all,” quipped the beauty queen-turned-actress.
