Some of the greatest love stories are just made to be broken. We witnessed one in Oscar (Rowell Santiago) and Aurora (Sharon Cuneta)’s past in the action-drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Now that the starcrossed lovers are back in the same place where their love blossomed and died in tragedy, and might soon cross paths again, let us relive their bittersweet tale via this Friday 5 video.
Flashback scenes brought us to a time when Oscar and Aurora were young and adoring each other, full of dreams for the future and the grit to fight for their love. They went on a date by the waterfalls where they confessed their feelings. Oscar said they’ve been special friends for long and they’re not getting any younger, thus the wish to make their relationship official. He also promised to be with Aurora once she goes back to the States.
We may call it daydreaming but Oscar, a fisherman, was determined to give Aurora a comfortable life despite their opposing social status. She likewise looked forward to raising a family with him. However, Aurora got scared at one point, knowing her father Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel) will disapprove of their relationship.
Don Ignacio was against Oscar, thinking the poor man would ruin their reputation as the most influential family in town. As soon as he found out his daughter’s connection to Oscar, he immediately asked his assistant Lucia (Vangie Labalan) to book Aurora’s flight to the States.
Eavesdropping on the conversation, Aurora knew her dad would do everything to take her away. At that point, she felt scared and like there’s no other option but to elope with her boyfriend.
The lovers stayed at Oscar’s place. Aurora met Oscar’s friends Lolita (Rosanna Roces) and Armando (John Estrada). Things were rosy, albeit more humble and ordinary than what Aurora used to have. Life was simple but she found unadulterated joy in being a good partner to Oscar while anticipating their first child. There was a scene where Oscar came home to Aurora stitching baby clothes with their chosen name – Maria Isabel.
Aurora gave birth to Maria Isabel. The promising days, however, will not last long. Don Ignacio’s men led by his brother Eduardo (Roi Vinzon) broke the silence of the night when they attacked the small town. Don Ignacio’s order was to kill all townsmen and not leave a single person alive until they get Aurora back.
Men, women, and children were slaughtered. Some including Armando and Oscar tried to fight back but their knives were no match for the opponents’ high-powered firearms.
Eduardo shot Oscar on the chest twice and watched the latter’s body float on the waters. Aurora asked Lolita to take her baby before she faced her heartless father and his men.
Aurora begged Don Ignacio to end her life as well. After all, she felt like she had no reason to live, believing that Oscar and her daughter died in the massacre.
