Villainy often comes in two, for someone has to be the king and the other a disciple. Take for instance Renato (John Arcilla) and Jacob (Marc Abaya), who made up a pairing that’s scary, wise, and purely evil in the Kapamilya teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
This Kapamilya Toplist features some scenes that prove Renato and Jacob are no mere baddies. They are, in fact, two of Cardo (Coco Martin)’s most hardly defeated enemies in the story. The portals of hell opened when Jacob’s group caught a then-fugitive Renato. In his trademark wide-eyed evil stare, Jacob was stunned to see Renato helpless and poor. So he volunteered to take him in, knowing that the notorious mafia leader would be beneficial to his own dreams.
It turned out Renato was even Jacob’s father’s murderer. But instead of loathing the man who killed his dad, Jacob thanked the villain for what he did.
Jacob was so accommodating and he gave Renato a feast that’s given to a hero or a king, calling the latter his ‘idol.’ He saved him from doom. He provided him with new and expensive clothes, shelter, and weapons. They became instant partners working on a single mission to become the most powerful mafia leaders in Asia. The neophyte was thrilled to expand his expertise and learn from the best.
Jacob was stunned the first time he witnessed Renato in a ruthless killing spree but soon he would pick up his ways. Sometimes Jacob would reveal his psychopathic tendencies. Push the wrong buttons and his horrible temper would erupt without a warning. But surprisingly, a single command from Renato could tame Jacob’s splenetic outbursts, teaching him that even the gatekeeper of hell need not rush.
It didn’t take long for Renato to regain his power and influence through Jacob’s loyalty. He was training him all the while getting financial help from his apprentice. For them, their alliance was hell’s greatest gift. They were en route to power and victory. Renato was all about ambition and greed while Jacob loved ruthless killings.
Soon, they connived with big drug lords like Lily (Lorna Tolentino) and Lazaro (Gardo Versoza). They also took serial killers Bungo (Baron Geisler) and Juan (Romnick Sarmenta) in their team but wiped them out as soon as they served their purpose. Renato and Jacob also had a promising deal with Lito (Richard Gutierrez), who later on turned into an enemy as well.
Over the course of their pursuit for glory, Jacob and Renato have faced all sorts of enemies side by side. Their partnership now goes deeper than business. In a scene, Renato thought of Jacob and said he already sees him as his own son. So when Jacob got wounded during a skirmish with Cardo and the Task Force Agila, Renato made sure his loyal right-hand man would survive.
When Jacob was saved from death, they talked about burning their enemies down in flames. They specifically had Cardo in mind. And with pure creepiness, they laughed and talked about the devil like their friend.
The recent scenes showed Jacob falling in the Black Ops’ trap. Will this really be the end of Jacob and Renato’s villainy? Don’t miss an episode of longest-running action-drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
