FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano opened a new story arc that brings forth an unexpected alliance and answers questions about Cardo (Coco Martin)’s life as an orphan. With that, new characters entered the show led by Ramona played by Charo Santos.
On Instagram, Charo said she never thought she’d still be able to star in an action project in her decades-long career.
She also thanked Dreamscape Entertainment and Coco Martin for the opportunity to be part of the long-running action-drama series. Check out more of her behind-the-scenes photos in the gallery.
In the photo collection, we see Charo in a farmer’s clothing. Her first appearance on the show established her character’s life as a farmer, and as the episodes went on, it has been revealed that the farmers are a group that stands up for justice. Ramona holds the torch as their leader.
Charo is therefore required to handle guns and take on action-packed scenes, as also shown in the photos.
Going back to the story, the farmers treated Cardo’s wounds after taking his body from the bridge where he fought Lito (Richard Gutierrez). Some questioned Ramona’s command to bring the most-wanted Agila home. But she insisted that Cardo has the same principles as them, hinting at a past connection. Answers were revealed after Cardo regained consciousness at the group’s camp and called Ramona “Nay.”
Flashback scenes brought us to a time when Lola Flora (Susan Roces) had Cardo adopted since she can’t afford his medication. The flashbacks continued, showing the teenage Cardo (Nash Aguas) living a happy and comfortable life under the care of his foster parents Ramon Dalisay (Marco Alcaraz), a cop, and Rose Dalisay (Nadine Samonte), a doctor. Unfortunately, his parents died in an ambush.
Bent on avenging his parents’ death, Cardo attacked the criminals’ hiding place. But he was young and not as skilled as he is today. He was almost killed, had Ramona’s group failed to arrive on time. Ramona took Cardo’s body, treated his wounds, and raised him like his own until adulthood. However, she disappeared after a big mission and was believed to have died. Cardo went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a policeman.
They might have had an emotional reunion on TV, but off-cam, Charo and Coco are elated to be working together. Check out their photos! Coco was also hands-on in the recent scenes, as always. In some snaps, he appears demonstrating proper gun handling and explaining the scene to Charo. We love how she finds joy (her genuine smiles are proof) in this new experience and how she listens to Coco even if she’s the more senior star.
Charo also shared scenes with Nash, who was impressive in his portrayal of Cardo’s teenage life.
