Threats, defeat, victory and love made up the September 28 episode of now 5-year-strong Kapamilya series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
As the war between good and evil continues, Lily (Lorna Tolentino)’s team hatches meticulous plans to take control over President Oscar (Rowell Santiago) and the entire country without neglecting the hunt for Cardo (Coco Martin)’s group. Renato (John Arcilla) also plots new strategies to expand their drug empire.
Arturo (Tirso Cruz III) commands two of his henchmen to abduct Teddy (Joel Torre) and Virgie (Shamaine Buencamino) and interrogate the couple about Cardo’s whereabouts, so to track his daughter, Clarice (Rhen Escano) as well. Fortunately, Diana (Angel Aquino) was there to save them, albeit Virgie sustained a gunshot wound. As they escape, Teddy and Diana are confronted by a dilemma about Virgie’s life-threatening situation.
Lily’s other allies taunt Arturo as he fails anew. Juan (Romnick Sarmenta) volunteers to singlehandedly defeat Cardo but the first lady likewise belittles his capabilities.
Meanwhile, Alyana (Yassi Pressman) helps Lito (Richard Gutierrez) secure a deal with a big time client, moving them another inch closer to each other. The Task Force Agila works hard as housekeepers at the country club, still clueless of Lito’s ulterior motive. Elsewhere, Lola Flora (Susan Roces) and Yolly (Malou Crisologo) panic about Teddy and Virgie’s safety upon getting a hint about the danger.
To celebrate the 5th year anniversary with solid Team Promdi fans, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano airs live interactive show with the cast during commercial gaps on Kapamilya Online Live, starting September 28. In this episode, Yassi Pressman who plays Cardo’s wife Alyana, Bianca Manalo as Bubbles, and Malou Crisologo, who portrays Yolly, share their thoughts while watching the series along with thousands of online supporters.
The new milestone wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the viewers who remain devoted to this day. Yassi is grateful that no matter where the circumstances bring them, the loyal fans continue to stay and support the show.
Five years was more than enough to build a family on the set. Genuine love has grown deeper among the cast, so much so they feel each other’s pain. Malou mentioned Coco Martin’s effect on them as the show’s torchbearer. She tagged him as the team’s pillar, so anything he faces is felt by the whole family.
To be part of such phenomenal series is likewise a big responsibility. The cast embraced the unspoken rule to always do good, knowing they have a reputation to keep, as Malou described. Because wherever they go, people see their onscreen characters more. Sometimes, they would carry traces of their on-cam personas outside the set. For instance, Malou acts as the loving aunt and Yassi as the clingy daughter even when the cameras stop rolling.
Over the five long years, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has also become the comeback series of many artists, thanks to Coco’s generosity. The cast is thankful for the opportunity to be part a historic teleserye. They’re likewise grateful to the people working behind the scene and to the management for looking after their safety during the lock-in tapings.
The team strictly adheres to “new normal” safety precaution, to the point that some production staff doubles as on-cam talents to limit the number of people on the set.
As they continue to tape fresh episodes amid the pandemic, the whole team takes inspiration from their avid followers. The undying support lessens the physical and mental exhaustion of lock-in tapings. Despite the many roadblocks, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano will remain devoted to its commitment to the Filipino audiences. Cardo’s story is far from over. Tuloy ang laban!
