Past lovers Oscar (Rowell Santiago) and Aurora (Sharon Cuneta) almost crossed paths in the recent episode of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Almost. And it felt heartbreaking but exciting at the same time because it only means they’re getting closer and closer to meeting again.
In the December 16 episode of the beloved action-drama series, Aurora secretly dropped by the majestic falls in her hometown. With tears, she talked to herself about letting go of painful memories then threw stems of flowers into the waters. Meanwhile, Oscar rode a raft going to the same spot. But when he arrived, he only saw the floating flowers as Aurora already left. His eyes searched the place, puzzled.
Now the backstory is slowly unravelled. In another scene, Aurora reminisced their old, familiar tale while watching the President and Lily’s (Lorna Tolentino) announcement on TV. Flashbacks rolled, bringing viewers to a time when the young Aurora and Oscar were dating, riding a raft near the waterfalls. Their conversations sounded so dreamy, with Oscar making a promise to be with Aurora when she goes abroad again. They also dreamed of living a happy married life in the city while Oscar pursues his goal to become a lawyer.
At one point, Oscar noticed Aurora’s silence. She said her father, Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel), will surely disapprove of their relationship, thus she’s worried. But Oscar soothed Aurora’s fears and vowed anew to fight for their love. The scene cuts to Aurora, present time, embittered by Oscar’s broken promises.
Aurora and Oscar share a seemingly epic love story, quite reminiscent of Sharon and Rowell’s real-life romantic past. The Megastar has been candid in her recent posts where she confessed that Rowell is actually her TOTGA or The One That Got Away, meaning their love was actually beautiful but just not meant to be. Now they’re good friends and both happy to be reunited on screen. Check out their adorable, oozing-with-chemistry behind-the-scenes photos below:
They’re so comfortable with each other that getting wacky is no problem. They teased fans with a cute photo that Sharon captioned as, “With one of my bestest, dearest friends on the planet, my director in concerts and one of the best-quality men I have ever been blessed to know, Rowell Santiago! Love you Choy!!! Tichoy pa rin direk ko!!!” followed by heart and kiss emojis.
