Tabing Ilog is definitely one of the most memorable and iconic Kapamilya drama series of all time. And for one cast member, it remains unforgettable to this day—so unforgettable that she really took a trip down memory lane to revisit the locations where they filmed the series 22 years ago.
In a vlog, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin lead star Jodi Sta. Maria went to Pagsanjan, Laguna to reminisce those taping days. Tabing Ilog is actually her first regular program on ABS-CBN and as such, Pagsanjan, has truly been a very special place close to her heart. On their way to their destination, Jodi recommended vacation or getaway spots in Laguna like the resorts in Pansol and Mt. Makiling in Los Baños. What made this quick trip more exciting for Jodi was the fact that it has been more than a decade since she last visited Pagsanjan. She was so thrilled and curious to know if the houses that they used in tapings were still there.
When Jodi arrived in Pagsanjan, she showed us first the Arco Real and shared some trivia about it: “It was actually built by the people of Pagsanjan to express gratitude to their patroness, the Our Lady of Guadalupe, from protecting the town,” Jodi said. She added that when you reached the Arco Real, you have already arrived at the town proper. The next spot that Jodi visited was the first and only Roman Catholic parish church in the city dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Jodi also didn’t miss the chance to visit the world-famous Pagsanjan Falls. The Kapamilya actress also suggested that you can also take time to visit and appreciate the Devil’s Cave, Japanese Garden, Caliraya Lake, Lumban, and Paete.
And Jodi was ecstatic to find the houses of their Tabing Ilog characters maintained and intact. She first went to her character George’s house, then to Jerry (Mylene Dizon) and Rovic’s (John Lloyd Cruz) respective abodes. Jodi shared that they were holding their tapings in these places for four years - and they would shoot every Wednesday of every week. She also went to the houses of the other Tabing Ilog characters—Badong (Paolo Contis), Fonzy (Baron Geisler), and Corrine (Desiree del Valle). Jodi also shared that she always visited the nearby New Ilaya Bakery for her favorite ensaymada.
Jodi then went to the Pagsanjan Garden Resort which served as their standby area before taping. Finally, Jodi showed us where the titular “ilog” was located. She shared that before, they would see tourists going from the other end of the river to the Pagsanjan Falls. Jodi also took her time to try out Aling Taleng’s halo-halo, which they say is the best halo-halo in Pagsanjan.
