In her second comeback teleserye, Diamond Star Maricel Soriano takes on another meaty role that reflects a mother’s unconditional love. She plays as Lucing in the newest Kapamilya series Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin. Maricel’s generosity as a caring and loving ‘Inay’ crosses over from the small screen to real life as her co-actors, and even fans, run to her for motherly advice.
The award-winning actress responds to supporters asking for her wise words on common life dilemmas. Sharing her thoughts on enjoying teenage years, Maricel’s main point is to take care of one’s health and physique while still young because keeping in shape gets more challenging over time.
“Kasi ‘pag mga bata, walang problema, eh. Mag-diet kayo ng one week, okay na. But when you reach the age of thirty, parang ibang usapan na, ‘yung metabolism bumabagal. Enjoy-in ninyo ‘yung katawan niyo ngayon habang bata kayo,” she says.
While she talks about enjoying the prime years, Maricel reminds the youngs to balance freedom and discipline, especially at a time of a pandemic. She urges everyone to stay fit by doing home workouts and keeping a healthy diet. The timeless thespian reveals she’s trying to trim down her weight.
The veteran star shows no sign of taking a break from showbiz. She remains inspired to practice her passion even after decades of working in the limelight, thanks to her sons and two adorable fur babies at home. The Diamond Star loves simple joys. “’Yung alam ko na ‘pag umuwi ako, malamig na ‘yung kwarto, nandiyan na ‘yung dalawang babies ko nakatabi na sa akin kasi katabi ko matulog sa bed.” Even on days when she has no one to talk to, her cheery dogs always keep her company.
The third letter sender struggles with her relationship with her parents. Maricel always tells other people to respect their parents. But in dealing with a difficult situation, she has only one piece of advice which is to keep praying. “Magdasal kayo tapos i-try ninyong humingi ng sign kay God kung kailan ang best time na makausap ang magulang ninyo.”
She adds that open communication can soothe any conflict no matter how big. “Naniniwala ako doon sa lahat ng bagay pwedeng pag-usapan as long as parehong open ‘yung dalawang sides.” At the end of the day, just be grateful that your parents are still around. Don’t lose hope even when you think the situation remains stagnant.
