Kira Balinger and Grae Fernandez take on the Lalaban o Susuko Challenge

Just less than a five days before they bid farewell to their well-loved characters Jake Zulyani and Hope Villarosa as Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin comes to an end, teen stars Grae Fernandez and Kira Balinger recently dropped by ABS-CBN Entertainment’s Kapamilya Confessions to answer some questions from the netizens.

But prior to that, they gamely took on first the “Lalaban o Susuko Challenge”, wherein they expressed whether they will continue fighting or they will just surrender to a relationship once the circumstances given to them would happen. And much to their fans delight, they actually had the same views regarding each of those.

Both of them agreed that they are still going to pursue even though their partners have no improvements, have no time for them, are no longer happy with them, and are not able to get the favor of everyone around them. Meanwhile, both of them are already decided to leave if their partners hinder them from doing what they want, are already detrimental to their well-being, lie often, and can’t fulfill their promises most of the time.

Heading to the Kapamilya Confessions proper, Kira and Grae enthusiastically responded to the questions sent in by their adoring fans about their personal relationship, their team up, and their experiences in working for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.

Their characters may have provided romantic relief most of the time in the ever-dramatic narrative, but we’re still able to learn a lesson or two from Hope and Jake. For Kira, it’s definitely forgiveness. “Ako, bilang si Hope, pagpapatawad talaga e. I mean, that’s just my own personal opinion from how I know Hope. Kasi lahat ng tao sa paligid niya, nagsinungaling sa kanya e. Pero tinanggap niya pa rin at minahal nang buong-buo ‘yong mga taong did her wrong.”

On the other hand, it’s persistence for Grae. “Ako naman bilang si Jake, it’s his persistence. Kumbaga ipaglalaban niya talaga kung ano sa tingin niya ang tama at gagawin niya ‘yon, at magagawa niya yon.”

When it comes to what their characters have taught them about love, Kira related that while Hope just wants true love, she personally believes that ‘a perfect love’ is being able to “accept your partner for whatever he or she is and work things up and be honest and communicate”. Meanwhile, Grae admires how courageous Jake is when it comes to fighting for someone he loves.

If they’ll be given an opportunity to switch characters with anyone from the cast, Kira enthused that she would want to be the bubbly Charity Faith, played by young actress Amy Nobleza, while Grae eagerly answered “Avel” because he’s ‘astig’ and how Joseph Marco impeccably portrayed him.

Talking about their experiences in working for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, both of them disclosed how they became tightly-bonded with everyone on the set and they would miss spending time with them and how they took care of them very well. The 20-year-old actress also shyly uttered how she’ll sorely miss the 19-year-old heartthrob.

Speaking of “miss”, Kira shared that the one thing she would miss about the whole production is how their directors patiently assisted and guided them in every shoot.

“Mami-miss ko ‘yong pag-alalay ng mga directors namin, si Direk Avel (Sunpongco) at si Direk FM (Reyes). Because before we start the scene, talagang they really make us understand where the character’s coming from and sobrang grateful po ako do’n sa dalawang directors namin kasi they’re really there to guide us every step of the way. Kahit kailan, ‘di po nila kami [o] ako pinabayaan na I don’t know what to do, parang gano’n. Kung hindi man ako maka-relate, I would try my very best. They’re very encouraging,” she said.

They also went on to reminisce one of their most favorite lines and scenes on the show, which was one of Hope and Jake’s initial intense yet cute encounters at school.

Grae and Kira wrapped up their Kapamilya Confessions stint by giving us a sample of their team-up’s anthem every time their characters would share a sweet moment together on-screen – “Tayo Lang”, performed by their co-star LA Santos, who plays Jake’s bestfriend Alfred.
