As the clashes and showdowns of Marissa Pineda (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Ellice Ceñidoza-Villarosa (Iza Calzado) in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin are getting more scorching and more intense in every episode, the disputes between their respective beloved moms Lucing (Maricel Soriano) and Belen (Rita Avila) are sailing the same way, too!
But in contrast to what we usually witness on our screens every weeknight, the mood behind the scenes is actually fun and light, especially among the cast members whose characters are always engaged in altercations. Just like veteran actresses Maricel and Rita who may be mortal nemeses on the well-loved primetime series, but have been good friends for around three decades now – as seen in these photos of them together that the former uploaded on her Instagram account and we collated in this gallery.
However, did you know that their reunion almost did not happen as Rita was offered a project by another station? Yet she revealed in a virtual media conference that she still opted Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin because she didn’t want to pass on the opportunity to work in the “number one” television network and with the brightest stars in the industry. Besides, this is also her chance to be reunited on-screen with the one and only Diamond Star whom she had first worked with in the 90s ABS-CBN drama anthology series The Maricel Drama Special.
“Palagay ko dahil magka-height kami. Abot namin ang isa’t isa,” Rita jestingly began. She continued, “Maricel Soriano ‘yan ‘di ba? Pero ever since, alam mo, Maricel has been very, very kind to me. ‘Di ba sinasabing ‘Taray Queen’ siya? Pero as a newcomer when I met her, kindness ang naramdaman ko. Sobra-sobra.”
Yes, it’s true.”
And now, they’ve been filling the set of the series and the feeds of their IG followers with good vibes through their lovely snaps together.
