5 reasons why Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin is a must-watch

For five months or so of binging on movies or series via streaming platforms and local TV networks doing rewinds on their previous shows--it's time to indulge on the newest series, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.

The Kapamilya drama brings together four explosive lead stars in a unique and engaging story that the Filipino audience would love.

Here are five reasons why this teleserye is a must-watch!

1. A showcase of acting prowess

Having the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano is enough to convince that this series is worth watching.  There is no doubt that of her caliber, any scene in the show would be as exciting and tension-filled for the characters and the viewers alike.

Did you know that Maricel was the one who popularized the 'bida-kontrabida' roles in the Philippine cinema? This series could see a transformation of Jodi Sta. Maria's character as Marissa. Maricel's character in the Maryo J. delos Reyes 1984 film “Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit” back then was Clarissa. Was it a coincidence that their names rhyme?

Jodi Sta. Maria has proven many times her acting mettle and two of her latest works on TV like Pangako Sa 'Yo as Amor de Jesus-Powers and Sana Dalawa ang Puso as Mona and Lisa--are enough to prove that.

On the other hand, Iza Calzado's portrayals in Hawak Kamay as Atty. Bianca Magpantay-Agustin and in A Love to Last as Grace Silverio-Noble--are reflections of how versatile she is as an actress.

Sam Milby will certainly turn heads with his impeccable thespic ways, which he has proven time and again in his teleserye appearances, especially in his most recent performance in Halik.

There is no doubt that the audience is in for such a treat of battle royale in acting.

2. All characters are “real” (including the antagonists).

Keiko Aquino, the one who envisioned the films “No Other Woman” (2011) and the last film of the late Maryo J. delos Reyes's “The Unmarried Wife” (2016); the writer of “The Gift” (2019); and screenwriter of “Mula sa Puso” (1999) made each of the characters relatable and real to the viewers.

She made sure that the characters she created aren't cardboard characters. Apart from being real and relatable, the cast members are those that will linger and disturb the audience's minds because of unforgettable storytelling.

3. An interesting spin from the usual love triangle

It’s an interesting take because it is about the hatred between two friends and their great love toward each other. It is because of the same love that prevents them from destroying each other.

Imagine the pain they both have to go through and the struggles of the man they choose to be the subject of their conflict.

It also paints a scenario of two women competing over a mother's love and affection as well.

4. Direk FM Reyes’s return and JRB Creative Production’s first

After giving a string of powerful work as a director, the likes of  Maging Sino Ka Man: Book 1 and 2 (2006-2008), Lobo (2008), Apoy sa Dagat (2013), and Magpahanggang Wakas (2016-2017), FM Reyes makes a rather challenging comeback.

FM Reyes's name is synonymous with royalty in drama series. Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin promises to replicate or even surpass his previous successful TV shows.

Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin also marks the first foray of JRB (short for Julie Anne Reginio Benitez) Creative Production as an independent unit. JRB is the same team that brought TV hits like May Bukas Pa, 100 Days to Heaven, Juan Dela Cruz.  There is no doubt that this series won't short-change its audience with its entertainment experience.

5. First teleserye to be fully launched online

This superb, gripping drama serves another milestone for the Kapamilya network as it is the first teleserye to be fully launched on ABS-CBN’s digital platforms. While it is also set to air on August 17 on the Kapamilya Channel on cable TV, the series will also be the newest and first show to be streamed on Kapamilya Online Live via the ABS-CBN Entertainment’s website, YouTube channel, and Facebook page.

Also starring in the series are Cheska Iñigo, Michelle Vito, Paulo Angeles, Grae Fernandez, Kira Balinger, Lito Pimentel, Alvin Anson, Loren Burgos, Nico Antonio, Jef Gaitan, Jimmy Marquez, and Brenda Mage are part of the powerful cast.
